Once a external dump is made, then I can study the read routinue and find a way to
rewrite the memdump and flashsec programs to work.

I am sure this drives will be appearing here soon, but we still selling stock from the
March/April dates, very rare to see nothing but Samsung or 47 drives, even the 59
has not been seen here much.

Well, first of all you need a key to apply to your second handed one. Without a tool to read out firmware, you can't!

I think he meant selling the whole console and buying an old one off someone.
At least, I hope he did.  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif)

Hi foaley77,
My Manufacturing date is:
2006-08-26

Looks like us Aussies are getting used as MS guinea pigs ...  laugh.gif

To all the MS employees reading this thread ... G'DAY!  tongue.gif

I understand that there is nothing GaryOPA can do without a firmware dump despite his best intentions, unfortunately un-soldering the flash chip off the Hitachi is well above the level of my soldering skills.

Damn I knew I should have paid attention in those Electronic Engineering labs. I'll be patient till a solution comes along.

Cheers,

Fed.

federico69 are you able to get this drive to work in Windows? Gary has gave me a few different commands and it would be good if you could try them out to.

memdump E 91004F0 1 10 key.bin

memdump E A200 8 8000 test0.bin

memdump E 1A200 8 8000 test1.bin

memdump E 22200 8 8000 test2.bin

memdump E 8000 4 8000 int78.bin

Lol , Microsoft have a right to try and combat people trying to run backups
and it's you costing them money not the other way round.

Seriously though Relax I'm sure GaryOPA is all over it.

It has always been a battle between hackers and manufactures
where it comes to consoles.

Somone works out a way to play backups , the manufacturer responds with
a new anti-disc copying method or something to combat the hack that is working,
then the hackers reply with another method, its a never ending battle.

Regards

It's possible though, going from what has been said already, that you may have to reprogram this chip through a programmer instead of sata flashing the drive.

It was only a matter of time before MS took measures though, like the above poster said, they have every right to do so.

Sent my 360 (sammy) into M$ for repair and they sent me a brand new one, which has the dreaded 0078fk.  I'm in the UK.

Shit it looks like more of these drives are popping up all over the place, it was bound to happen sooner or later though.

Hi Foaley,
I'll be happy to help out once I buy a longer SATA cable  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

I read your post straight after I'd put the bloody case back on ... ah well this weekend I should have more time to play around ... hope it is possible to flash without unsoldering the chip ... (fingers crossed).

There has been many changes done to the new Hitachi GDR-3120L - Version: 0078fk drive.

#1: No "memdump" command works, totally new program needed

#2: Chip type has been changed to a 39VF020, so new "flashsec" program needed

#3: Black hard glue has been added covering all the chip pins and the controller pins.

#4: External "debug" triggering into ModeB has been removed.

What does all mean:

#1: The Team-X kit will no longer work on this drive.

#2: Dumping the firmware by software is currently not possible

#3: Wiring in a patching-on-the-fly "mod" would be very hard due to the "new black glue"

#4: Removing the flash chip to externally be read will destory the drive due to the "new black glue"

What options are left to us:

#1: Get more people working on this new drive, currently only in UK and Aussie.

#2: Destory at one drive to be able to dump the firmware, using a external programmer.

#3: Afterwards sitting down and re-writing all the programs: "memdump, firmcrypt, flashsec".

#4: If you can't wait, buy an older produced x360 console (Before Late July/Early Aug. dates).

That's all for now....

We are working on it....

Hopefully some poor soul will give us one personally...

So we can destory it and play with it for everyone else....
