As I said in another thread, I'm glad that MS is releasing new firmware/new drives etc. to fight the hackers.  It indicates that they have no plans/capability to fight people with the older drives and ban them from live or take other measures.

So it's mainly this one new model of hitachi that's holding back double-stealthed firmware and the fine work of GaryOpa, Geremia, Maximus and others?

If I had that drive I would break the thing right now and send the chip.

May karma cause that chip to appear hastily.

Excellent work and much thanks for the flawless firmwares you've provided everybody with so far, guys.

Since there is black glue on it that means that it CAN be hacked.  MS wouldnt have wasted time putting black glue on it if it couldnt be hacked.

Good point.   Not to mention that MS and "can't be hacked" should never be used in the same sentence  tongue.gif

What you cant just dremel or drill down to the pins?

And to the guy who thinks this means they are beaten with the old drives.  Think again, they are just tying up ends with the console, I think Live will be addressed eventually.

Wow sucks to be a 0078 owner lol.   laugh.gif

Actually no, that's not what it means.

BUT, it might mean that it might be difficult enough to detect the hack on the Xbox 360. If it was easy to do then why bother with the black glue? If it was easy to do, they could just slip a few lines of code into each game and it would not run on ANY modded drive.

I'm just really curious whether they'll be able to detect the modded Samsung but not the Hitachi....might be time to buy a spare Hitachi drive ;-)

Cheers

Is there any chance someone with one of these stoopid drives can post an image of the tray?

Thanks

They just look the same as any other Hitach drive just with different F/W.

It wouldn't be too much of a sacrifice if Gary were to give you your drive key so you could replace the drive with one found on eBay.
