Silly question.

I made the changes as per the thread.  No how do I *really* know the movies are playing in PScan from dvdx2?

I assume your tv doesn't have an info button so any type of display where it tells you what type of signal you are recieving (my Mits say 480i/480p/1080i when I change devices or bring up the video info).  No real way to tell otherwise although I find the MS dash to be MUCH clearer and sharper in 480p as opposed to 480i (DVD video isn't as easy to tell and I can't say I find the output impressive) - I've swapped back and forth between the dashes though and there is no mistaking the 480p vs. 480i signal on my MS dash.  It is night and day.

Most look very decent and some games have people arguing over whether it's 16:9.  The Xbox stretches (not squashes) them.

Noobie question:

I loves my xbox.

My current tv is for shit, but i'm trying to upgrade to a 720p front-projection unit <http://www.projector...traVision.htm>.

Reading about these mod's to enable pro-scan, my question is will that disable my unit from using xbox live in the future? Or did one of you geeks work out a fix for that, too?

I'm sure one of you will kindly redirect me if i'm in the wrong room.

Thanks for any help

Alright... Ive read all I can find about getting dvdx-2 dongle free to play in 480p.. Mod enabled, evox boots and tv is in 480p ( checked ).  Go to dvdx-2 and it changes to 480i.. Did the hex edit where you just change the 04 to a 05 and I get nothing but a blank screen and an xbox that stops responding... I also tried the autodetect hex edit, and it loads up, but loads again in 480i... 480p, 720p, and `080i are enabled in xbox config, tv supports it ( as evox comes up in it, as well as my stand alone dvd player ) and the hex edit are exact, even tried a few diffrent hex editors.. Does anyone know if there is anything else I can try???

Thanks,

kickit

nevermind.. if anyone else is having the problems that I was, do the hex edit to enable auto select, but do do the hex edit involving changing the 04 to a 05.. I changed mine to 04 and did the autoselect and it came up in 480p... sweet..

aside from hex editor - is there any way to actually EDIT a file on the xbox - or must it always be extracted to the computer then copied over back the xbox saving over the original file?

oky this is going to sound stupid - what folder is the xboxdash.xbe?

I patched my dvd2x2 - works perfect - i just changed the original to backup.xbe and the new one as the default

am i safe doing that for the xboxdash? its quicker than having 2 relink everything thanks

xboxdash.xbe is in c:\

If you use evolution-x (evox) for your dashboard, I recommend you follow this procedure (this is in the hex edit tutorial for xboxdash).

FTP xboxdash.xbe from xbox to PC

On PC, rename xboxdash.xbe to pxboxdash.xbe

Hex edit pxboxdash.xbe on PC to support progressive.

FTP pxboxdash from PC to Xbox

Edit evox.ini so that the msdash= line points to pxboxdash.xbe instead of xboxdash.xbe.

This way you leave your original xboxdash.xbe untouched.

thanks - i appreciate the answer - i didnt thinkit would make a difference if i just change the orginal to backup.xbe  and then send over the changed xboxdash as the original file name.

but will do!

I just did it like the instructions said and I am a total newbie all the way. It took less then 15 minutes and worked like a charm. I am glad this was here because I just got a xvga+ and was annoying I couldnt see my dash or use my dvd player anymore without getting a headache from eye strain:P
As for anyone not sure if it works or not. My monitor (and IM guessing all monitors for this matter) will not display 480I corectly. After moding the hex code I can now see both my dvd's ad my dash perfectly. I especcially like the fact I can watch my movies in high def on my monitor, looks really good on my 21" nec. (which was built in 1994)
