What version of the MS Dash does the hex editing work for? What about the newer MS Dash versions, any progressive options available for them?

Has anyone tried editing the new Gueux dvd-X player - it is supposed to support the dvd remote kit and would be nice if it could do progressive scan.

To get the DVDX2 app to auto switch between progressive and non-progressive I used a patcher that edited the default.xbe file.

Alright guys.  I have a stock Xbox.  No mod chips.  Is there any way I can edit that thread and acheive prog. scan mode?  Do I have to have a mod chip?  There must be a way!!  I also would like to continue using my Xbox Live account.  Let me know!  I crave the 480p DVDs like a madman!!

Is this still up to date? I read in other threads/forums that when you have the latest MS dash you can enable progressive mode by simultaneously pressing left trigger + right trigger + left joystick + right joystick. Correct me if I'm wrong smile.gif

Still the Xbox DVD player is chintzy, suffers from a number of issues, and is outperformed by a decent $80 dedicated unit so there's yet another reason not to bother.  Still, back in the day this was worthwhile specifically for people who had displays that couldn't accept 480i over the HD and 480p inputs.

Im having an issue.  I successfully made the change for msdash.xbe and default.xbe [dvdx2].  Yet, I do not see any difference in the picture.  I have a 46" Sony WS.  Another thing I noticed is that with my XBOX on, I can not change the settings from interlaced to Progressive Scan, yet when it is off on the same Video Input I can change it.  Is it that the XBOX is automatically pushing it as ProgScan onto my TV, even though I cant change the setting?

So, just so that I understand this correctly:

If you use XBMC to watch DVDs, you do NOT need to do anything as far as hex editing or patching, correct? The movies will show in progressive scan through XBMC by default (w/ component cables)?

Is there any way to tell if the hex edit works? I'm getting an HDTV soon but how can I really tell if there's a difference if I'm not an experienced video techie?
