a DVD dick (Band of Brothers)

I'm not going to even ask on the above.

You either did something wrong while hex editing, your tv doesn't support 480p, and if it does you don't have it enabled, or you forgot to enable 480p in the ms dashboard.  Make sure you have checked all these things.

You do not need to hex edit the ms dash (xboxdash.xbe) for progressive.  It is independent of dvdx2.  Sounds like something is amiss with how you hex edited the dvdx2 default.xbe then, if everything else is in check.  I would go back and mess with the dvdx2 hex values again (try seting it back to interlace and see if it works, then try progressive again), and see if you can get it to work.  Good luck.

or do i have to patch each game xbe

is there a list of auto pathers for the games, or do i have to do it all manually

I can get 480p games to play if I turn my mod off. I of course can not see the MSdash, but the games load just fine. The TV displays 480p as the input and the picture is fantastic.  Mod on, I get my evox dash. Try playing a game or movie and all I get is audio. I have hex edited my files as posted a few times now with no luck following the directions to a t!

Your problem isn't with the hex editing values, because with your chip on you should be able to view games in 480p from off the hdd or dvd drive.  Playing xbox 480p games has nothing to do with these hex editing values; they are only for to enable 480p ms dash/dvd playback, and dvd2x.  Nothing more.

1) Well since you have to have a modchip enabled to view a hacked xboxdash.xbe, i'll let you figure it out.
2) There is an auto select hex that will do both interlace and progressive.
3) Patching the ms dash has nothing to do with xbox games.  Most xbox games are already 480p, only a few are not.

Will Hex editing the MSdah get the flubber screen to come back as well?  I have tried to hook my xbox to my HDtv and now I do not get the flubber screen and I can not get into the MSdash or watch DVDs at all.  Avalaunch eventually will load and it seems to still work fine.  Any one know what I can do about this? blink.gif

98% chance that your TV's component inputs do not accept a 480i signal.  The bios (flubber) and xboxdash/dvd player are 480i.  You cannot change the bios but the purpose of the hex edit is to be able to see the dash in 480p (much clearer even for tv's that do accept 480i) and watch Dvds in 480p.  You need your modchip on to view the hex edited dash so you will need to keep an unaltered xboxdash.xbe and save the edited one a pxboxdash.xbe or some such variant.

Hi all!! just a question:
Is there a way to display M$ dashboard or EvoX at higher res like 720p??
Are there any software that works with 720p or higher? (ex. XBMP) should i set something somewhere ???

Tnx all and apologize my english wink.gif

No, Evox and MS dash do not support 720p or 1080i.  This is a totally different resolution from 480i/p variants and it's not as simple as enabling it.

When u hex edit the .xbe for dvdx2 is it set to auto selection (where it will switch back to interlace if you don't have it hooked up using a hdtv)???

If not does anybody know how to do it that way because I hook up my xbox to alot of different tvs and I don't wanna have to keep replacing the .xbe everytime I watch dvds on a different display.

edit: Nevermind.  I just made 2 seperate .xbe's and renamed them so I would know the difference between the 2 .   1 has progressive scan and the other 1 doesn't.

To get the DVDX2 app to auto switch between progressive and non-progressive I used a patcher that edited the default.xbe file.

I compared the unpatched default.xbe file with the patched file and here are the observations:

Search for E0 10 0B F0 51 8B CF

Change to E0 10 0B F0 51 EB 71

Also search for 5E C2 18 00 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90

Change to 5E C2 18 00 80 61 28 9F 8B CF E9 84 FF FF FF

This does work for me.

Changes are in BOLD

Addition: do *not* do the 04 to 05 hex edit when using the method above.

I use an xbox2vga to run the signal out to a lcd projector. Now I can throw out my dvd player. Thanks to this I can watch dvds in 480p mode on my projector. There is nothing like 8ft of love...

Is it me or does this edit seem to darrken the picture?  I was comparing both MS dash DVD player & DVDX2 and with the edit on both the picture darkened.  Interesting?  Anyone possibly know why?
