thanks - i appreciate the answer - i didnt thinkit would make a difference if i just change the orginal to backup.xbe  and then send over the changed xboxdash as the original file name.

but will do!

If anyone is wondering... the REASON why you change the name of the evoxdash xbe that you edited, is so that you can BOOT YOUR XBOX WITH THE MODCHIP OFF.  See, editing this file makes it no longer signed code, so normal bios won't allow it to boot. In other words, you can't get to your dash without using hacked bios, if your file named xboxdash.xbe is edited. Name your edited file to pxboxdash.xbe and copy it onto c, leaving the normal file alone.

You then open up your evox ini and edit it where it says xboxdash.xbe, to pxboxdash.xbe, so that you will boot progressive with your modchip on, and your dash will still work with your modchip off.

To get the DVDX2 app to auto switch between progressive and non-progressive I used a patcher that edited the default.xbe file.

I compared the unpatched default.xbe file with the patched file and here are the observations:

Search for E0 10 0B F0 51 8B CF

Change to E0 10 0B F0 51 EB 71

Also search for 5E C2 18 00 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90 90

Change to 5E C2 18 00 80 61 28 9F 8B CF E9 84 FF FF FF

This does work for me.

Changes are in BOLD

Addition: do *not* do the 04 to 05 hex edit when using the method above.

Man, I can't find the hex values with search. Can someone post of offsets of the two values for me (the number on the left side). Thx.

Well i got it to work but the way i did it was buy taking the evox.ini file from the old slayer 2.5 installer and copying it only to my xbox.i was curious if anyone has noticed there evox.ini being rewritten or messedup by games and there updates or is the newer ini just not setn to run certain games in progressive

Any thoughts anyone

You might have to search for the hex values without spaces ..

Search for E0100BF0518BCF

then edit to E0100BF051EB71

Also search for 5EC218009090909090909090909090

Change to 5EC218008061289F8BCFE984FFFFFF

hope this helps

blink.gif Some games cannot be edited if the pattern is not the same. Take Dead or Alive 3 as an example, Can it be patched and forced it display in progressive scan mode?

I just noticed that the Network settings panel in the MSdash doesn't display at 480p. Is there way to fix that? Is it launching another xbe when I goto those settings.

i did the change from pal to ntsc region 4 with enigma's app, and at config magic the xbox was rated as ntsc. BUT no string to enable the 480p at the original M$ dash, do i need to do any wiring, or to have composide. I currently have s-video mod. as i said i have a 1.1 pal version. Also at the original xboxdash.xbe searched for the noted strings with a hex editor and i couldn't found them. Any clues for those 2 problems?

thanks

P.S. can anyone send me a hacked MS.xbe to test it?
