So, does this skip the PFI/Video checks (ala 1.51) or have they added strict wave 4 compliance? Personally, I would prefer the former.

+2 Agreed, will hold off flashing until this is known

Great job C4eva or whomever, appreciate the work as always, look forward to some more info as it comes.

If I were to use 'ppf-o-matic' to patch a wave 4 game, then would ixtreme 1.6 allow it to boot? I really cbf re-flashing when I dont play on live.

C4Eva was just in #fw and said that it uses strict wave 4 check and would need activate iso for anticipated wave 5.

1.51 Hitachi should boot wave 4 just fine.

I really don't see the point of new FW just for WAVE releases.

What is going on with Hitachi FW there hasn't been one for ages or is this because it is the most secure it is going to get?

Dang it! I told my mom I wasn't coming home this weekend but I might have to now. I have two flashed xbox 360s. One is a Samsung and one is a BenQ. I guess its a sign. I need to build myself a desktop so I don't have to drive the 50 miles to go use her's.

I agree. There is no need for new firmware every time a new wave is out. Just make a firmware that will boot any wave and make the user check his backup with abgx. If the user is stupid to play non checked backups online or play early game realeses online then they should be banned... I'v been Modded since this hack started and stil on my launch console with xclamp fix. Never played early games...

Does anyone know about this firmware on Xbins for BenQ:

Benq_iXtreme_1.41_Rev_2_Non-Stealth_Multispeed

Does this firmware not check the vid partition and PFI like ix1.51 for Hitachi drives  but uses the stealth on disc or does it not have any stealth checks at all (ignoring stealth on disc) and thus is completely unsafe even if you use games completely verified by ABGX?

So let me get this straight.  Hitachi owners won't get an update, since their iX 1.51 actually works as intended by skipping Wave checks completely.  All other drives get an update that works by enforcing strict Wave 4 compliance, thus meaning we all go through this again every few months--and that's assuming C4E maintains a willingness to constantly update the firmware.

If your rips are good, Wave checking firmware is a useless pain in the ass.  If skipping the Wave checks is good enough for Hitachi, why isn't it good enough for everyone else?

This is the first time I've ever been jealous of Hitachi owners.

Wave 4 games have been confirmed to work on 151. No need to update hitachi - FW is good how it is smile.gif

I dont think we will ever get anything higher for the hitachi drives since they no longer producing. And just a pain in the be-hind.

LiteOn as in 83850c. The lowest/oldest fw for them is 1.6.

I'm in total agreement that it would just be easier to have it open to future waves, HOWEVER bitching about it won't change anything.  Since we are all getting it for FREE, I think we should say thank you very much and take what we get.  We need to remind ourselves that beggars can't be choosers.

Without hesitation, I'd pay C4E $100 for a non-stealth BenQ firmware.  But knowing C4E, that's not his motivation.
