It is usually cheaper to live in the city because you can find small, cheap, multi-family housing much easier than in the suburbs (single family homes on quarter acre lots in most of the country).  Apartments are more energy efficient as far as heating goes - which means a lower gas bill.  You can take public transportation to work, the grocery store, etc, which eliminates the need for a car payment, insurance, gas, and maintenance on a car.

About not listening to celebrities talking about politics, what about reagan and arnold?

Kanye could at least mentioned something about the possible chance that Bush is going to Iraq just to get their oil, but he brings up something so prominent instead.

QUOTE
"The slaves who left here to go to America, because of their steadfast and their religion and their belief in freedom, helped change America. America is what it is today because of what went on in the past. Yet when I looked out over the sea, it reminded me that we've always got to keep history in mind. And one of the things that we've always got to know about America is that we love freedom, that we love people to be free, that freedom is God's gift to each and every individual. That's what we believe in our country."

QUOTE
"Speaking about slavery and race in a visit to Senegal, Bush said... 'By a plan known only to Providence, the stolen sons and daughters of Africa helped to awaken the conscience of America,' Bush said. 'The very people traded into slavery helped to set America free.'" Hey George, are you trying to justify their enslavement by saying it was a plan of Providence - of God?

wink.gif   Also, glad you have a job. And Im sorry that you feel the need to call yourself a NIGGER, but I didnt call anyone that.  Please tell me who is the nazi in this forum, and then go look in the mirror.  Your emotion is just as displaced as the guy who got up in front of millions of people at a telethon, said a bunch of useless ignorant things that put a good cause into a tail spin.  You dont like how things are going, so you lash out at white people because it is convienient and easy for you to believe.  Thanks, drive through.

No, Mr. Bush, you just stay the course. It's not your fault that 30 percent of New Orleans lives in poverty or that tens of thousands had no transportation to get out of town. C'mon, they're black! I mean, it's not like this happened to Kennebunkport. Can you imagine leaving white people on their roofs for five days? Don't make me laugh! Race has nothing -- NOTHING -- to do with this!

QUOTE(OrkanMan @ Sep 3 2005, 09:40 PM)
I think we agree on several things. But when you said "Conservatives dislike black people," I wasn't really sure if you were being literal or not.  It's hard to put a large amount of people into one category like that, although we have all done it at one time.

Irishdrunk, who told you this? "Conservatives dislike black people. And every other minority. It has been like this since the day's of slavery".  The democrats ran the south at that time and were the ones that were the KKK cross burners.  For example, Senator Robert Byrd.  Go do some research on that democrat leader and what the country looked like at that time and its politics.  There has been a reverse in the political perception since that time amoung the north and south.  Before, as in a couple hundred years ago and up until about 75 years ago, the majority of liberals were from the south ( you know, the ones with the big plantations and slaves picking cotton) , and the majority of conservatives were from the north.  Now the landscape has reversed and now the south is conservative and the north is heavily liberal.  I dont know why most people that I talk to believe that the south was always conservative, perhaps it has something to do with public (government) schooling.  I guess its the same reason that they only highlighted how whites bought slaves, but failed to acknowledge that the whites were buying them from BLACKS and whites in Africa.  Go figure.

By the way, im really just wondering where this perception comes from, its not an attack on you.

Again, I cant say this enough.  Racism is hating a race, or races, and believing that yours is better than theirs.  The term is thrown around so much because the left wants it to be.  It is politically expedient to have that term used at random for them, because it backs up their failed argument.  I see "racism" in many things that others dont, because it is politically expedient for them not to.  Such as Affirmative Action.  Here we have an idea in place that is inherently flawed.  You have a group of people that are being given the chance that others aren't, based soley on skin color or gender.  Its actually really soley based on skin color, the gender aspect is a smoke screen conjured up by the left that proposed it.  Thats not "racist"?  Its kind of like how they tried to introduce ebonics, and the tag of "African American" in the late 80's, versus black american.  It will evolve to something else almost assuredly as soon as groups of blacks deem it a derogatory term just as negro and colored people were years ago, even though there are institutions that use the terms that are promoted by them (United Negro College fund, and National Association and Advancement of Colored People).  I always found it funny that they like to put descent before the nationality to prove a point.  I guess if I wanted to prove a point, I could go around calling myself an Irish, German, Italian, English, American.  But then I guess I would look and sound as rediculous as they do.
