Xbox 360 Noise
« on: February 04, 2006, 11:31:00 AM »

the only issue i've got with the noise or warmth of 360 is that when you return to the dash after quiting from a game, it starts to make a very noticable and quite annoying, low frequency humming noise. The only way to stop is to get up and remove the disc from the drive (pretty much defeating the point of being able to quit back to the dash with a disc in the drive *puts flame suit on*). This leads me to believe its the disc idling (but not spinning down). During games it's no louder than my 2 xboxes.

Anyone else experienced this?

Info:
PAL Core (+HDD) in upright position on the floor (rather than a desk or cabinet)

my 360 is about 10x louder than my original xbox when playing a disc, like distractingly (sp?) loud.

I hope you guys are joking.

Maybe its the core because I havent had any issues with noise.  no louder than my pc humming.  Manufacture date is 12-12-05 so it cld be the cores or the first batch

My power supply is VERY loud. It sounds identical to a refridgerator.

Mine gets loud a lot faster than usual because i put in the 2 60mm fans so as soon as i turn on the 360 its goes from a hum, to a hummm then hummmm and HUMMMMMMMM within about 30 seconds.

ckw0n - Id add you if i remember to and im at work right now so id have to wait until i can get to my xbox smile.gif

Mine's the same manufacturing date, and I can barely even hear the damn thing most of the time.  The only time the noise is quite noticeable is when I'm quitting a game and returning to the dashboard, and that's all but what, 5 seconds?  I've never had a problem with overheating, either... I have my 360 on non-stop most of the time, and the power brick never got hotter than "warm" IMO.  The only issue I had was when I downloaded the update, and then I kept on getting a system error message for a day straight.  I assume it's because since I had my 360 on for a week straight and it restarted, it won't boot if the CPU is above a certain temperature, which is understandable.  Anyway, just putting my 2 cents in, like always  biggrin.gif

do you think mines overheating if when i play the Full Auto Demo it crashes within 2 minutes of gameplay, although it doesnt crash during any other games (Hexic, Geometry wars, Tony hawk 4)

Maybe you got a bad download, delete the game and download it again.

Just experienced the "older" drive (the one with "Decepticon-eyes" right behind the chrome bezel) at a friends house and it was slightly louder than the new drives with no triangle-eyes in the tray.

So finally I got to hear it firsthand. So people who keep telling me the 360 is loud is loud is loud can either look to see if their tray is indicative of the old drive or shut up.  sleep.gif
