Oh yes about the PSUs, all three I've heard and touched in a livingroom setup dont make any noise at all. No high pitch whines, no buzzing, nothing. Just cool air pushing from the led-end vent holes. It's quite remarkable that the fan inside the PSU is so silent, perhaps thanks to how heavy and thick it is.

indeed, my psu is SILENT.

I tried horizontal, same sound level.

I think it's more the fans speeding up than anything else after closer investigation.

yep totally agree not a peep, just that loud humming when returning to the dash with a disc in the drive.

as for 'decepticon eyes' my core doesnt suffer from this newly discovered computer gaming ailment >_<

yeah, like a whirlwind huh? But what about when idle. It's not really a LOUD noise, just annoying in a silent room... kind of like a rumbling.

Ahh... I wonder how the rig will last on a 80 degree F summer day with some talking about overheating issues during the cold months... I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I had two core systems. The newest model was reasonably quieter then the old one but got really hot. The older model was louder but also stayed cooler as well. UNFORTUNATELY BOTH SYSTEMS HAD PROBLEMS AND I SENT THEM TO M$.

MFR DATE:10/10/05:SUPER LOUD FAN THAT INCREASED AND DECREASED OFTEN.

MFR DATE:11/18/05:QUIETER BUT DVD-ROM WAS SUPER LOUD AND IT GOT VERY HOT.
