If you're running a turbo-ed import it's fairly cheap money to make big power over most comparably priced American cars, usually lighter weight too. Though unless I was going with something like an M car I probably wouldn't buy an import unless it had a Turbo.
Back in college we had an auto-cross every other week. Once week a guy with a newish Camero SS showed up (sweet car BTW, I've had the pleasure of driving one on several occasions). After sizing up his car a bit and doing a test run it was determined that it was so big that it physically couldn't fit through the course
It was pretty funny.
As for labeling imports as "ricers" what about all those sweet European cars? like the BMW M3, Audi S4, or VW R32.
I don't care if you're a pure straight line power fan or a tight handling track fan. No one car argue with the M series cars. HUGE amounts power (especially in the newer models) and better handling than just about anything under the sun, all wrapped up in European refinement, with a back seat and a boot!
