im planning to test this on my v1.0 xbox with the old dash, ill post my results if i do everything well...also, is it necessary to have xftdash.xbe i can just have the normal xboxdash.xbe and will it work? i just want to know before i find out how to go thru the process of making an xftdash...

if you don't have a fonts folder on your C then you might have the wrong dash. do you have a live button on your menu? check your dash version in system info of your box.

and darkzero, xftdash.xbe is just a hacked version of the xboxdash.xbe. it is not necessary for it to work.

Just got this working on either a 1.4/1.5 xbox.  Thanks for the tutorial man.
I guess this settles all the people who've been saying font hack doesn't work on 1.4/1.5 xboxs

i think the only box it won't work on is a tetris/swars bundle. i tried this tutorial and many other ways to do a swars/tetris, but to no avail. sad.gif

Wow I was looking into soft moding my x box and so far your tutorial looks best. Hope it works. My quesiton is: Why do you need both exploits? I understand that the audio one is startable by using the copy cd function and is not very convenient. But then why do you need it at all? What's wrong with the font exploit? Also you keep mentioning that you can turn on/off the explots; how? What would happen if I had a power outage?

Sorry for the many questions. I hope someone else learns somthing from their answers. Cheers!

the only reason i use font and audio is i take my box to lans and such. or for anyone that takes thier box anywhere. it to me is incovienient to go through audio to get to the evox dash. i like to boot to evox.

as for turning font on/off, there is an option you put into your evox.ini file. it renames the font files to/from exploited state to retail.

also, i use live and still wanted to keep my font hack. to my understanding, apparently live does work with fonts, although my setup is fine with live and i don't really want to test it. when you boot with font off, you boot directly to the ms dash which is a retail bios; safe for live.

hey
thanks for the help there on AIM
it works
i did run into a little problem though
when i ran it with the audio exploit, i accidentally picked Xbox Live, and it tried to update ( i didn't have XBL before, it came with a save i got from Datel )
and i got Error 21 whenever i booted without a disk
LUCKILY i backed up my C Drive to my PC before i continued with this tutorial
always backup, it will save your life...and some money
now im looking for a MS Dash without the live tab

also, for Action 13

Info "Reactivate fonts"
Warning "Turn off Audio and activate Font?"
QUOTE
Progress "Turning on audio exploit..."

rename "c:fontsBert.bak" "c:fontsBert.xtf"
rename "c:fontsErnie.bak" "c:fontsErnie.xtf"
rename "c:fontsXBox Book.xtf" "c:fontsXBox Book.org"
rename "c:fontsXbox.xtf" "c:fontsXbox.org"

it might confuse some people because it's supposedly turning off the audio exploit, not turning on...
but anyone can fix that problem
