No homebrew games have been made for the light gun, and a remake of Duck Hunt would be fantastic. If any gamers decide to take this challenge on, all I ask is my name in the credits. A duck hunt remake would be extreamly popular, and if I knew how to program well (I'm learning) I would start this myself, but as I don't, you guys should try it.
Ready....

A cheaper light gun would also be extremely popular. Damn you whoever makes it. (I think Madcatz...) mad.gif

to be honest; the gun is pretty cheap !  Its the same price as a controller..  and is all in all just a glorified controller...

$29 at Circuit City

Hmmmm.... last I saw they wanted $39.95 for a light gun. I'lll have to look into that.

What were the XDK calls to support the light gun?

What differences would be needed in the programming to support a light gun as opposed to a controller?

I'm looking for the XDK so I can start learning how to develope my own xbox progz. Hopefully, I'll start working on this myself in the next couple months.

My lightgun was $30 from CircuitCity, and I don't think that was too expensive at all.

I would love to see this project go through development. Not only would it be cool (and offer a change from HOTD3), but it would be a great step forward in Xbox programming.

Yea, if you are paying more than $30 for a light gun you are paying too much.

The Xbox sees the gun as just another controller.  I am not sure of the caps.subtype yet as I'm not anywhere near my Xbox...

There isn't a define for one, either.  They just have the following types:

XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_GAMEPAD XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_GAMEPAD_ALT XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_WHEEL XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_ARCADE_STICK XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_DIGITAL_ARCADE_STICK
XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_FLIGHT_STICK
XINPUT_DEVSUBTYPE_GC_SNOWBOARD

Will post more when I have a chance to play with the code.

Yeah, I'm thinking there are special libraries for the light gun, since it requires some sort of process to "guestimate" the X/Y position using that extra yellow wire in some fashion. sad.gif

I'd pick up a light gun tomorrow if I thought I could write something to work with it.

Okay...  Here's how it works...

You use it as you would a normal controller.  Your X/Y screen coodinates are as if the gun was the left thumbstick.  The trigger is button A.  If LeftSitck.x = 0 and RightStick.y = 0, you're either not pointing at the screen, or you're pointing EXACTLY in the middle.  Most likely you're off screen.

Don't use a deadzone for this.

It is REALLY easy to program for the gun.

BTW - Bought another gun today from Circut City.  Woo hoo...  Two play gun games.  smile.gif

id love to see a game where you shoot bill gates  biggrin.gif

I could arrange that....

...but I don't have a light gun, yet.

As it is, the family budget is a bit stretched this month; and my power supply just died (well, the fan did) on my main system, a P4 (which means special PS), so I've got to replace that today.

Anyway, a shooting game would be very simple to make. I'll cogitate on that between working on MXM 0.9g.

Hmm.. I've got this powersupply, it works great (unless you need more than 330 watts). It's not too expensive either.

Yeah, I picked up an Antec at Best Buy today... it's my main machine, so I can't wit on mail order parts sad.gif So this one is a 300W costing a bit more money.

Still, it's an Antec, so it should be a decent power supply. 300W should be fine, as I do my heavy duty burning on two other machines.
