Considering New Smarrtxx Chip...
« on: January 29, 2006, 08:37:00 AM »

I've only used X3 chips before but I'm considering a SmartXX LT OPX SE

Does this allow ED@Chip to be run?

I mostly want it for fast HDD clone.

I'm going to use XBMC as my dash so I will not need most features of any mod chip. Only HTTP/FTP flashing for updates, and a on-chip FTP in case XBMC does not boot.

Also, I cannot find a place that sells this chip, only the previous OPX version.

thanks in advance!

you only can run ED@chip from RAM on  a SmartXX LT OPX SE. (you will have to run remote flasher on your pc to load ED@chip)

Sorry for being new to SmartXX...

does remote flasher work over the LAN or does it require a cable connection to the the SmartXX board?

You can do 1:1 clones of hard drives with smartxx chips, you can run an ftp on the chip with smartxx chips, and you can flash it either in a web-browser, using the remote flash program, or ftping a bios then flashing it on the board.  Very user friendly.

Even the older OPX V1 chips?

I cannot find the newest version on the SmartXX site... so I may need to buy the older one.

As for 1:1 ... can I do a 250 -->> 300  or does it need to be 250 -->> 250?

I found the SE version, only at Divineo.

I don't need any fancy LCD or such so will the OPX SE do what I need on v1.0 xbox?

I'm going to use XBMC as my dash exclusively.

I do not believe you need the new chip to do a 1:1 clone, as for can u do a 250-300, I am not sure.  I have never played with it, but it is built into the smartxx OS so it is on all their chips.

I wouldn't recomend doing an HD clone with 250-300gbs worth. I remember when using the hd clone feature in the Xeniums OS, and for C:\ along it took longer then expected.
