It will only work if the pbl.tgz is the correct archive format. Just renaming the extension will not do?
pbl.tgz is a so-called gzipped tar-file. If you dont recompress in this formst the installer will not know how to decompress.
I dont know if winrar can make a gzipped tar-file. I know that Iceows can.

I tried this exploit yesterday,

Everything installed fine etc etc.

but when i switch on the xbox with tray close, i get the menu that i should get with tray open,

with tray open i also get the menu (mxm,minilinux)

Therefore, whatever way i switch on my xbox, i get (mxm, mini linux), instead of getting evox when tray is closed.

I used AR

i have a slight suspision that the AR could have something to do with it,

PLease confirm guys, will re-loading it onto AR help?

ALso, last but not least, what is the differentce between the HD KEY and the HD PASSWORD?, which is needed, incase i mess up my xbox?

You reach the MXM menu when you power on the xbox by the small power button?
With the tray closed do you see PBL loading or does it go straight to MXM?

If not, it seems that tray-state code of the fonts doesn't work on your xbox - though it does both on my 4034 and 5101 xbox's???

As temporary fix you can extract the font posted below and replace it with your c:\bert-ate-ernie.xtf
You will loose the ability to boot to the MXM menu with the tray open, but this menu is available from the apps section in Evox.

rmenhal posted this in the UDE thread.  This change to the tray state code must be necessary for some XBOXs.

I started updating the packages. I meant to do this anyway as seperating the "font" code from the tray code is cleaner.

OK - I updated the packages. They now included the latest fonts from Rmenhal. Still with the clock setting code, but the tray-state code included in a xbe that's being launched from the UDE hack, so:
Tray Closed : UDE -> dualboot.xbe -> E:\pbl\pbl.xbe -> E:\Dashboard\default.xbe
Tray Open   : UDE -> dualboot.xbe -> E:\UDATA\xxxxxxxxx\xxxxxxxxxxxxx\default.xbe (ltools menu).

Hope this fixes the tray-state bugs of the old fonts. Please try them out adil786...

When MXM loads from a game save hack it reads in the game in the drive. To enter the main-menu hit the B-button (red button) to go one step back.

The HDD Password is what you would need if you ever had to unlock your xbox HDD.

The ltools menu is only available from the MXM dash. When booting with the tray closed you get to Evox. From the Launch Menu -> apps you can choose ltools, to go there.

Maybe Iceows doesn't let you make a tgz archive in one go, but you should be able to first make a tar-file and then gzip it afterwards. Maybe you need to rename the extension to .tgz when doing it this way.

I would say the easiest solution would be to install the package as it is. Then ftp in to do the changes.

The bios included loads E:\Dashboard\default.xbe so you can just empty this directory and put unleashx in there - remembering to rename the xbe to default.xbe. No signing needed if you run PBL.

The PBL installation resides in E:\pbl. So to change to 1.3.5i you empty this dir and put 1.3.5i in there. If you want the same bootorder you can use the bios in my pbl installation. Also remember to put the debug RC4 key in your boot.cfg (re-use the one in your current boot.cfg) and to rename the PBL xbe to pbl.xbe (habibi signed).
