Guide To Installing Free-x/evox Using Xlinux
« Reply #30 on: July 11, 2004, 08:22:00 PM »

I have a problem with the installation of the Bert/Ernie exploit via XLinux. I am all good with the hot swap and loading XLinux and accessing the exploit of which I burned to another CD. My problem comes in that I misnamed the Xbox Book.xtf file. I thought it was named XBox Book.xtf instead the former.

So, somehow I have two files called Xbox Book.xtf and one more file called XBox Book.xtf. These are in addition to the renamed exploit Xbox.xtf file. I backed up the two original .xtf files in the same directory (I renamed their original extensions to .old) I've tried to rename the duplicate files to different extensions, delete them and tried to move them to another directory only to get a 'not a filename or directory' (not necessarily the exact wording) error. Are ther any other commands in /bin that I can use to somehow rename/move these busted Xbox Book.xtf files?

I've read through all the commands' help files that looked like they may have been applicable but nothing really seems to prove useful for me. I've read somewhere that I could delete these files via HDD_Driver (and for that matter just copy the exploits to the Xbox hd). HDD_Driver is of no use to me as I cannot locate a mfc042d.dll anywhere (i've googled, check MS, etc..).

My Xbox is a kernel:4034 and dashboard:4034 with a Thompson drive. Currently whenever I power it on it boots to the Xbox logo and 'MS' appears below it and the MS dashboard's green aura in the upper-right of the screen just starts to fade in and the unit resets and it repeats this cycle over and over. It will play games fine if they are inserted in the drive.

If anyone can help me out with another XLinux command aside from cp/rm/mv, some type of workaround or even an mfc042d.dll file I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks in advance for any assistance,

Terry_Tang

someone should close this topic... no offence, but using a font exploit is asking for trouble now, if anyone can name a reason not to use UDE i'll give you a lifetime supply of cookies

Ultimate Dash Exploit - same as a font exploit (like this one) but no risk of clock loop, and boots a lot faster

XBOXHDM and install UDE.

I upgraded the main thread to include warnings of old stuff.
