HSDEMONZ,

Where in Canada are you finding them that cheap? Some friends and I are about to order some in from the US. I'd rather get them here in .ca if I can find comparable prices....

This thread is really long and difficult to find information. I dont suppose somebody with a lot of time on there hands is willing to put this data into some form of spreadsheet?

Well, it's pretty useless to compile a list of brands only, because the brand name and packaging may be identical for different media, my running example being Verbatim DVD+R, which sell media produced at seven different factories under the same name and packaging (discs identify as Taiyo Yuden | Mitsubitshi Chem. | CMC Magnetics).

If everyone posted the same info as kaarde (well, the brand and manufacturer ID should suffice), I'd be happy to complile a list.

I've read it all and it makes no sense.
I've tried verbatim and intenso cd-rw and neither work at 4x.
I've got a packet of each now.
I've been told that TDK cd-rw work.
I've been thinking about a DVD burner...

Philips 1.1 Xecuter

Should i...
Should i try the TDK?
Should i try some DVD-rw? I don't want to start collecting dvd-r.
Should i ...?

My setup:

- Pioneer DVD-RW 8X 107/A07 + firmware hack
- XBOX 1.4 with Samsung DVD

From reading this thread I think I will go Ritek DVD-R silvertop or TDK DVD-R.

I can hardly find 8X media. Has anyone burned a game or movie at 8X with no problems? If so, what xbox dvd do you have and what media did you use?

Oh and this is a looooooooooooong ass thread. Someone needs to organize it. Come up with a chart or something with these categories:

Compatibilty
Reliability
Speed
XBOX Drive Type
DVD Burner Drive Type
Media Type

If someone out there knows web pages maybe they can come up with something like dvdrhelp.com has. That would help alot.

$3.60 CDN?  Ouch.

We can get blanks for $2.00 CDN now.. cheaper if you look harder.

Would you mind letting us know where you can find discs at that price in Canada?

The following Datasafe / Datawrite silver top 2X disks work great in the new Philips DVD drive that can object to some other media - eg it doesnt like the yellowtop White-Label Media 2X disks. Symptoms of media the Philips doesnt like is that it loads them at 1X speed!! slower than on a CD!!

Recommended for new philips DVD Drive - http://www.bigpocket...duct.php?id=178

Not recommended - www.whitelabel-media.com (although this does work OK on the Thomson drive)
