get XVI32 hex editor, its free...

open the xbe, do search, find, click text, and inster xboxdashdata, it will highlight an X on the right in the begginning of xboxdashdata, look 2 blocks to the left, ull see the number 2..

highlight it, then go to edit, and overwrite string, put in text string, then the number 6

hit ok, it will change, save it, and then everything will work off F

ive done this many times.

Thanks I tried this with the THC Orange and it will now launch from F: the only problem I seem to have now is that the orb has a garbled looking immage on it and the menu items are empty and if I click on any of them I get an "Enter password" screen.     My Primary M$ Dash on C: is the latest LIVE dash and nothing more.  Everything else is on F:   How can I correct this?   Without modifying anything on C:

Never mind.   I figured it out made all the needed changes and now have it up adn running entirely from F: With the exception of a problem with everything showing up twice in the Apps, Emus and Games lists.

If anyone has an idea on how to fix that one I'd appreciate it.

Since I use my modded Xbox for Live, I still wanted to use the True Blue dash for fun. But, right now, its not possible (of course if you can tell me otherwise  wink.gif )

For example, after lots of testing, if your original MS dash is on C: and your True Blue dash is on F: (all its files), and you try to boot True Blue from F:, it will not work. It goes back to C

I even put True Blue on C: and F:, all the files for each at both locations, it worked. So, I downsized F: files to just the xboxdash.xbe, and it still booted True Blue (audio and all). Verifying that it still goes back to C:

I hope a workaround of some sort comes out smile.gif

Just hexedit True Blue to point at a different data directory!

That should solve the problem I would think.

A more detailed explanation ::

1) Open the xboxdash.xbe you want to fun from F: in notepad.exe.
2) If in Notepad: Goto Edit/Find.
3) Type In this > Xboxdashdata.
4) Right before the string "Xboxdashdata" there will be a string "Partition" with a number following. Change this number to "6".
5) Save

Hope this Helps.

Nope, didn't work  sad.gif

Did you resign the XBE after editing it?

If you did then I don't know what the problem is tongue.gif

Yes, I did resign.

First, I tested the files to make sure they worked off of C:
Then, I FTP'd them to my PC and edited the xboxdash.xbe to go to partition6 for the XIP files (just 1 change in the XBE)
I resigned the files using Winxip
Then, I FTP'd them back to my Xbox in a folder on F:
I accessed the XBE from F:, error 21

All good. I have all 3 dashes (MS dash, True Blue, and edited blue) on C. I followed this little tutorial.

QUOTE
Note2 here is how to change the boot place of the xbe:
Quote: Roll from xload boards:
The MS dash always loads the XIPs from the C partition regardless of where the XBE is stored. If you want to have more than one seperate dash, you need to hex edit the XBE to read from a different folder. Search for "dashdata" in the XBE and change some of the letters.

For example, I have xboxdashdata.1012a700, xboxdashcust.1012a700, and xboxdashblue.1012a700 on my C partition, with one XBE using each. Two of them on C, one on E.

It's probably possible to change which partiton it looks to in the same basic way, but I prefer to keep all my OS files together.

Remember, resign the files AFTER the changes!

Here's a little glimpse at my file structure:
