use a game that has a "dashupdate.xbe" file on the dvd.

ghost recon, capcom vs snk2, unreal etc.

yep. as long as u have that file... then go to the Xbox Live! section of one of those games and it will update it. (make sure your xbox doesn't have an active link to the net though, if u have a modchip)

hmm i removed all traces of evox, launched the dashupdate.xbe with no internet link and all it does is take me back to the msdash. does the harddrive have to be locked for it to work. Im not sure whats supposed to happen. also, i dont have live or plan to get it. does it require xbox live to update?

try switching off your chip and updating from there

try launching it throught the actual game rather than just plain opening the xbe
