It not the matter of dashboard, Downgrading is O.K. BUT the bios/kernel must support it too.....
The bios seems to be patched from the version starting with 5XXX. Trying wud on such a bios/kernel wud leave u with error 16/sumthin....

What he needs to do, it get his memory stick formatted for the xbox (plug it into xbox, then get the xbox to format it) then use the action replay software on his pc to transfer the gamesaves to the xbox without formatting the memory stick for the PC. However, without downgrading, he can use the mechassult exploit. Select run linux, and UnleashX should load, and In WaffleZoneTools, he can install UXE, then install a linux distro.
(btw i had exactly the same problem as you pal, and i looked to downgrade before i just installed UXE.)

It wouldn't, you would also need to buy the adapter to make it plug into the PC, like the Action Replay hardware. Also anything over say £5 is too much. (and as the dollar is so, so, so low against pretty much everything, $30 is close enough to £6 lol).
Do what i said, get the gamesave on the xbox, look on xbox-linux, there is a really good tut on there! Then, instead of installing linux with mechassult, choose "run linux", which shouldn't run linux at all, instead it should boot UnleashX. If it doesn't get it off xbins. Then go to wafflezone tools, and install UXE. Then you can boot your distro install CD, or play backups, or do whatever you want, play NTSC games (If you really wanted to, but i spose cos the dollar is so low, they do become cheaper, but don't support the us ecconomy too much...)

actually he doesnt need to buy anything else, he can make an adapter with a usb cable and controller break away cable. if you can tell colors apart, then you can just splice the colors together. i modded like 10 xbox's and all i bought was one mem card.
and use krayzies NDURe installer, dont f#*k around with anything else.

ok ya i got the usb port on my controller cable, the problem is when i go to put ndure on my xbox when i hook the mem stick into the port it erases all the data. anyone know how to fix this?

ye do it right. Get the memory dstick formatted in the xbox. THEN use the action replay software to transfer the gamesaves to the usb stick. DO NOT FOTMAT IT SO YOU CAN SEE WHATS ON THIS STICK IN WINDOWS!!!! Then stick it in ur xbox and as long as you havnt done what i just told you not to, you will be ok.

He should bea ablr to do it with NDure as long as its in UData.zip AR will take it..But the problem we had last nite was his AR software wouldnt recognize his stick..I know ive read how tos on this but cant find them..

Also theres a tut in my last post for putting saves on usb sticks but it was late last nite when i found it so i just posted it...I didnt go over it..

EDIT: maybe if he did like mike posted ar would see his stick..Format with xbox then plug into pc and run ar..

ok i got ar and i have the correct "udata" files, the problem is ar will not recognize my memory stick, if anyon knows how to fix thisa a reply would be awsome.

Edit: usb sticks don't seem to work with v1.6 boxes. But you had an early dash so this shouldn't apply to you.
