I have had mine on my xbox since day one of buying it and I have never had any problems with it.  That is 6 months.  I am sure it was a bad batch and they better start recalling them now before it gets worse.  I got the intercooler and the fan stand, both of them work great because I leave the fan stand on for like an hour or two after playing and it cools down the box some more.  No mods to either one.  Just seems like the xbox is a little to picky this time and I don't plan on moddin this until more features are available like old school nes and crap.  So if you got a intercooler lately take it back till all the bad ones are recalled just wouldnt take the chance.  Plus all the 360's work good without all the fans if you got them out in the open.  If you got it in a entertainment center then you would want these extra fans.

Wow.

After numerous reports of these things either burning up or blowing out the 360 AND Microsoft coming out and saying that it is a draw on the system and will damage it, people are still using them and calling it bullshit.

Well, have fun with your doorstops.

WHY WHY WHY ???????

THE XBOX 360 DOES NOT NEED EXTRA COOLING

READ THE F ING MANUAL ON WHERE TO PLACE YOUR CONSOL AND IT WONT OVER HEAT

MS WOULD OF HAD THESE CONSOLS ON HEAT SOAK FOR WEEKS 24/7 UNDER FULL LOAD

Guys this is very real, on microsoft forums as well, about 10 pages long with multiple people posting multiple pictures.

This is a Version 2 of the intercooler or te penguin or powerwave hub option.

I put one of these things on my box when I first bought it four months ago. It would cause errors, make strange noises, and generally screwed things up. I took it off and have had no problem since.

Caveat emptor!

It's true. These things are junk. One of my buddies, his 360 actually started smoking and it ruined his console. He got a replacement from MS$ though. Another one of my friends, his got brown like that, and I had to use an x-acto knife to get all the slimy melted plastic out of the power connector on the 360 itself. These things do a great job cooling, but be very careful, they can cause problems as well...

For my entertainment center, I just have a standard 120mm fan exhausting the back of the shelf so it doesn't get too hot in there. I just rigged up a 9v adapter with a molex on it for this purpose. This way my console stays cool and it isn't tied to the 360 in any way... Just a thought...

Hah.  Fortunately I didn't buy one of those.

The PS3 does have one thing going for it over the 360 - an apparently superior cooling system.

Dumb product for dumb people.

Ever wondered why you don't see PC cooling fans in sandwiched configurations like this? Cause its retarded and inefficient. Two sets of fans sandwiched together causes turbulance that pushes hot air (which the existing fans are more than capable of extracting) back into the case.
