Xecuter 360 Dual Firmware 'modchip'
« on: May 21, 2006, 02:40:00 PM »

So, ive been reading the xs frontpage, and i saw that tx is bringing out a dual firmware mod. Wouldnt that be illegal? Since backups is nog a good excuse for copy protection circumvention devices? I mean, on the old xbox they could hide behind the homebrew and linux stuff, but now, there is nothing!

So someone has 2 clear this up a bit, im dying 2 know smile.gif

You have to flash the device yourself, which makes it legal!

They could say it's for development of Linux on the 360?

I rather be branded "pirate" and be able to play games than not being able to play games at all. My part time salary can only pay so much: rent, food, tuitions, etc...

Also, Xbox-Scene, not Pirate-Scene.

If it is shipped blank there is nothing illegal whatsoever about it, it is just a pcb part.  I believe it is what the end user chooses to do with it that determines the legality.

not really, cuz these pcb parts have only one goal, piracy, no linux to hide behind this time...
