The propaganda is just getting ridiculous.  Three days ago there's a story about the coating on the BluRay discs starting to rot, and then BlockBuster backs BluRay and it's big news and having a "major impact" almost immediately.

The funny part about this to me is that Viacom owns Blockbuster and Paramount, and Paramount is issuing both BluRay and Hd-Dvd's....Go figure.

I can't wait for a dual format player to come out, hopefully after this will turn out like + and - dvd's where it ultimately doesn't matter.

LG has already released a dual format player. It costs about $1100.

In addition to Universal you left out New line cinema, Warner Brothers, Paramount and HBO.  But don't let me get in the way of your agenda...

all the studios you listed support both formats.. not one or the other.  At least try and make an attack that has merit.

and all the porn industry comments are stupid.  Who cares what they choose.. no one buys porn on fixed media anymore.

Blockbuster is a total rip off. They charge 5 dollars and something cents to rent a new release for 2 days  grr.gif But now my local Shopper's is renting new releases for 1.99 though they have to be returned next day but come on how many times do people watch a movie?? Their decision doesn't hurt me at all. Screw Blockbuster those greedy bastards. I wont be buying anything until this is sorted out.

you do know the porn industry has chosen hd-dvd.

That may have accounted for something back in the VHS days but don’t mean crap now. People mainly get their porn from the internet these days because it makes them feel more private and if you look good enough you will find porn on Blu-Ray as well.

Everyone that is delusional enough to think HDDVD has a chance go to their local Wal-Mart and take a good hard look at the HDDVD and Blu-ray display. Note how many Blu-Ray titles there are compared to HDDVD. Also note that any title that is on both Blu-Ray and HDDVD is about $5 cheaper on Blu-Ray.

No matter how you look at it Blu-Ray wins. Why does this bother people so much?

I have both formats so I am happy with whomever wins but I am able to look past the entire BS and see that the war is all but over.

And I agree Blockbuster has nothing to do with Blu-Ray winning this thing.

Pr0n in HD?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) You guys are crazy! Like others have said, this is no longer the VHS/Beta age. Back then you could only watch it on tapes. Quite different from what it is today, right? Ever heard about a very interesting invention called the Internet?  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) Apart from that, who wants to watch pr0n in HD and have to wade through lots of very detailed razor burn, acne, aged skin, sun damaged skin, scars, etc, etc. You do know that with HD it's a lot harder to hide those, right? Pr0n in HD will be a flop, DVD is a lot better (more forgiving on the actors/actresses physical flaws).

This, in my opinion, just goes to show how biased Blockbuster is. They probably did this purposely to help drive Blu-Ray sales. Although, they have to make a decision one way or the other...

I don't really care frankly. Whichever one wins, so be it (although it would be hilarious if Sony's format kicked the bucket AGAIN).

FOX has picked up the primary license rights to the Halo movie and they are indeed exclusively backing the Blu-ray format which could leave HD-DVD out in the cold.

First, they report it as rumor.  Secondly, they are completely wrong in mentioning the movie.  Fox has licensed the Halo IP in regards to merchandise.  This means we'll get lunch boxes, toys, etc featuring HALO with Fox distributing or controlling who distributes.  Nothing about the movie, sorry.
