Tsop Flash
« on: April 29, 2003, 01:07:00 AM »

today i flashed my 1.1 xbox using the 007 AUF linux trick
tsop erased and flashed just fine
my bios was as i read MS + X2 + MS + X2
was only doing a 2 way switch
so after flashing
i get a nice little green boot, reboot, green boot, reboot, green/red flash

what the hell did i do wrong here?

im assuming that it wouldnt have flashed if the solder points for flashing werent correct

I do have one question though if someone can answer it
is there a big difference in a 1.1 bios Vs a 1.0 bios? or are they the same damn thing?

the diference between a 1.0 and a 1.1 is in the encryption key i belive, because of this they are not interchangable.

to recover your system you need 2 jumper wires, preferably long ones that you can cut once into evox so you caan reflash

you need a jumper from a18 to +vcc (point 32 on homebrew mod diagram)
a jumper from point a19 to GND, or +vcc, wouldn't matter in your case. (GND is point 16 on home brew diagram)

when you go to reflash your tsop you need to cut these wires or you will only flash a portion of the tsop. don't cut anything until you are in evox though.

on my 1.1 I use MS + MS + X2 + X2
I have a SPDT switch to switch point A19 from gnd and +vcc this allows me to turn my mod on and off.

ok i know this is going to sound odd, but where point 16 is... i dont have that (at least its not the same on my board as it is in the picture...) its a little black box instead of a yellow one. and it looks alot smaller here too. would be still be the same point? (ill see if i cant get a hold of a camera to take a picture if needed)

what version of the X2 bios are you using?

i am planning on setting up my xbox in an identical way.

are you using the GND point that you gave for your switch on a19? (16 on the homebrew diagram?)

thanks

if i had to guess where VCC was it would be

what is marked on the first picture on this page

http://www.xbox-scen...ticles/tsop.php

However, craigncheri would be the one to ask where it exactly is.

There have been many reported problems using the newer combo bioses (1.0 and 1.1) in a multibios setup.

ok so many questions
sorry for not getting back here sooner to reply.

ok there were problems using the new x2 and evox bios's
that has been worked out, there is a thread on this already but I will briefly explain.

the old way of doing a multibios involved holding a18, and/or a19 to ground, this method did not work with the new bios images released that support both 1.0 and 1.1 xbox's, nor did it work with and 1.1 hacked bios at all.

the new method is using a switch to select between gnd or +vcc to force the tsop to the propper bank. just taking gnd off is not enough

my xbox is a version 1.1
my bios is
MS + MS + 4796.02 + 4796.02
I have a SPDT switch installed (for those who dont know this switch has 3 contacts.) the center contact goes to A19, the top goes to +vcc, the bottom to ground. (you could reverse the top and bottom wires, as long as you are selecting between +vcc and GND)

this does work I can confirm I have done this with several xbox's already.
I have also used evox D6 eject fix instead of 4796.02.

those 2 wires I told you about will force your xbox to boot one of the X2 bios's inside your tsop, while still ignoreing the other quadrents. once you get evox up and running cut both wires.

this is the thread if you want better diagrams then what i'm describing.

also when I refer to vcc, and gnd use these pic's
http://www.xbox-scen...d_diagrams.html
point 32 is vcc (not the link to 32)
point 16 is gnd, it doesnt matter if it's black or yellow.

a19 and a18 are in the second picture down. they are the 2 unlabeled points.
the top one is a19, the lower is a18

what gauge wire did you use for the switch? 30 AWG?
