What Is The Deal With The U.s.b. Cable

When I went to flash the bios on my chip the othe day at home I had the same issue.  The light on the chip would be on but halfway through writing it would go off and the writing would stop.  Tried all the different USB ports on my desktop computer and it still happened.  Grabbed my laptop and it worked like a champ on the laptop USB port.  Not sure why but if you have access to a laptop you may want to try flashing it on that instead.

LOL!

That's exactly what I ended up doing.

That's what mine is doing also will be lit for time but go off during flash or verify.

Could this be a power to the chip issue?

I have tried it on a laptop (dell) but with no luck.

no mine came from modchip.com, I can't get any replies for tech support plus it took about 3 weeks to get it.

Yup.

On another try I hooked up an Xbit to an externally powered port which supplied USB power, THis worked much better than before, even on the previously failing machines.

why isn't anybody responding to my thread. idon't fell like i am the only one here with this problem and the guy won't even e-mail me back now what a prick.somebody any where any help would greatly be appreciated. and just on a whim i tried cleaning the chip and the do several time's like 20/but something weird happened.i was holding the chip and moving it around and all of the sudden i reset and got the red and green flashing light with black screen. now i can do this over and over but still no bios will flash up this suck's it's like there is a short in it.and i am not trying to screw my motherboard up.but that would still not explain why it doesn't light up when hooked up to x-box. ok.

sounds like your having the same problem i had

try installing the chip into an xbox, hook the USB plug to the xbit, turn on xbox, flash the bios, and then you shouldnt have any problems.

(Just a reminder, this is how it worked for me, you may not have the same results)

Any chances the problem could be with your X-Box ?

Three mods in a row... quite strange !

Perhaps you should try your modchip on another Box.

Good luck !
