here's my 2 cents about dms3's work so far...

they are VERY advanced in bringing shit to tehcnology...

after all they did bring the first fireware upgradeable chip to ps2...

but they need to get taht to work good first..

if any of you have dms3 chip and have the firmware upgraded to 1.6c you would see what i am saying... they need to perfect the chip do what it say it would do..

booting antimod chips and also fixing the psx boot mode...

sorry if i got side tracked, but i think dms3 team should focus on perfecting their ps2 modchip first..

and yea... 2mb = over kill... lol

i think you really only need a 1 MB bios:

*original bios
*dev bios
*x2 4977 bios
*linux bios

is there something you can do with the other MB of storage?

actually dev bios are 512 I beleive.. ;-)

Yes, but I think his point was that the original can be loaded by simply disabling the chip... Original=0k mod space, Dev=512k mod space, 4977=256k mod space, and Cormwell=256k mod space for a total of 1mb mod space.

Of course, that leaves out the Evo-X D.6 BIOS.  ohmy.gif

the 2 meg bios is good if you ask me
right now i only have 2 bioses on my chip and they are the original and the x2 4977.  so for right now for me i don't really need anything else. but if more companies started making the 2 meg bios chips, than maybe some developers would develop some more 512k bios or even some 1024k.  you would then have 4 512s on your chip rather than 4 256s like most of you have currently.
with a larger bios you would be able to do more things.
if more chip makers follow this lead we may see some things done to the box that are currently un imagined

The Xbox is set up for 1MB of BIOS Shadow RAM space, and AFAIK, the MCPX downloads only 1MB from the LPC port into the system memory.

1 Mb only ??
then if someone make a 2 Mb bios
half 1 Mb of the bios won't be readable ???
so
in the end
only 1 Mb bios can run at one time ??

so there is NO WAY to solder the mod? if so, then that's a shame...

There is also a header for a wire harness install, check out the pix.

With the release of 4978, I think it becomes obvious that we need larger capacities.

Why would team xecuter do that (make a bigger bios giving people a reason to buy the xbit).

If you read the nfo that came with the 4978, the x3 is in the works and it will probably blow the X-b.i.t. away, but for now we are stuck with what is available.

Uh, being able to play psx games on the ps2 is one of the best features of the console. There are so many great games for the psx, I don't see how anyone would just shrug it off and allow such a bug to be fine. Psx games have taken quite a beating in most houses, so backups are damn useful. They need to fix that bug in the next release for sure. Or even a magic 3 is better than their chip imo if they don't

If your method of thinking is good graphics = good game then I feel sorry for you

If you have all these PS1 backups shouldn't you have an old modded PS1? I do, haven't used it since PS2 came out. You really think PS1 has something to offer? What happens when PS3 comes out? Would you complain then your PS2 games need attention? Yes good graphics + more memory + DVD supported games + etc. +etc. = good games. Your pity is wasted on me, help yourself.

BTW 1.7 Bios will fix this problem upon release, and when it does what else negative could you say about the DMS3? Magic 3 is better??? You need some info, badly.

the new xecuter bios 4978  is 1mb  so the 2mb is needed

i can use the 1 mb 4978 in my xecuter2.2pro...
so a 2 mb won't be needed
a 2 mb will be needed if there's a bios with size larger the 1 mb.
if xbit is trying to release a 2mb mod-chip
they better make a 2 mb bios
and for me
i'll buy a mod-chip from a company who make a bios too
if xbit release a mod-chip and a bios... i'll buy the xbit
if xbit mod-chip still have to use another bios (non-dms) bios...
i'll wait just for x3....
