Once it is locked you cant flash it anymore unless you Kamikaze hack it.

True.....but I have done over 100 Slims and not one was MXIC. But maybe he will get lucky since those are somewhat easier.

so basically i get the key first, buy another dvd drive pcb thats unlocked and reflash it with the cf and the key. or kamikaze it.
