Transcode 360 v1.0 Beta
« Reply #30 on: February 07, 2006, 08:13:00 PM »

Snowcrash said "I just wanted to clarify I installed both divx 6.1 and xvid 1.2 Since i'm playing xvid files does that mean that xvix 1.2 is working?"

Ahh depends on what order they were installed.  DivX 6.1 may be overriding the other.  If thats the case it shouldn't be taken to mean that xvid 1.2 works.  Easiest way to find out is to uninstall DivX 6.1

Guys, also remember DivX 6.1 has the crappy systray icon that needs removing otherwise it'll botch the Windows Media Encoder up.  See the manual for more info.

Snowcrash: I can't get Koepi's XviD 1.2 codec to work so I guess its just DivX 6.1+AC3 Filter for now.

Koepi's gives me the 'spinning wheel of death' which can also be verified in the log file:

08/02/2006 03:20:37       Stream opening.
08/02/2006 03:20:38       Transcoding video to WMV using profile: Transcode 360 Normal
08/02/2006 03:20:47       Stream opened.
08/02/2006 03:20:47       Stream started.
08/02/2006 03:20:48       Stream closed.
08/02/2006 03:20:53       Client connected.

Notice that the stream starts and ends almost immediately.

I get a very weird error... When I start the "console diagnostics", it says : " blablabla unhandled exception, system.io.ioexceptions : the process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process."

Naturally, i cant play videos on the xbox, although I can play them very well in the media center. Also, the video is not used by any other programs or processes(sp?) that I know.

a little help, maybe?  uhh.gif  unsure.gif thanks a lot!

edit: i use koepi xvid 1.2

Hi!
I'm also getting the infamous "TRANSCODE 360: EXCEPTION. Transcoding request timed out!" error, and then, in the log file, this one:
08/02/2006 2:55:09 *ERR* Windows Media Encoder threw an exception: System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException (0x80004005): WMEncoder.PrepareToEncode() failed.
   at Transcode360.MceServer.StreamFile()
Seems to me a very common error, as has been reported by three or four of us.
Well, I've tried to transcode a video manually, and ffdshow runs just fine. But, just in case, I uninstalled it and installed Koepi's one. No luck, same errors.
I have to say that I've installed WME, but not the SDK, because its not documented to be necessary.
So, the mistery remains, and does not seem to be codec related.
Any ideas?

OK, I've solved the problem, and IT IS codec related.
Koepi's codec DOES NOT work, only DivX 6.1 works (following the tray icon removal instructions).
My main problem is now how to get the subtitles (SRT format) displayed, as I was using ffdshow and VobSub is not working.

ok to install that codec you have to extract the three files to your desktop then right click the .inf file and click install. After that your all set.

unfortunately you have to use .avi .mpeg .mpg video files to actually convert. As of now there is no support for .iso .bin .cue .rar or .ts files.

As far as i know.....

Hey Runtime,

I have been going through some of your package files, (hope you dont mind) I was just wondering I noticed you have set some variables for resolution and bitrates inside of some of your config files. Have you tweaked these to what is working? or can i crank these baby's up and get some better video quality?

Love to know how/what you have done with the video variables and if we can tweak them a little.

When do the 4/3 and 16/9 prx's come into place? What calls them?

Go to start -> control panel -> admin tools -> services. select 'Transcoding and Broadcasting Services'

From there select the 'Log On' tab and select 'Local system account'. apply changes and start the service.

VERY IMPORTANT!

Please read this whole thread before you post! PLEASE!

YES! You do need to put in a username and password. This is the username and password you use on your MCE computer. If you logon your your windows mce computer with username: fred password: fred then when you install the transcode 360 package you need to put in username: fred password: fred

If you do not do this IT WILL NOT WORK.

Never Mind I think i got it. Thanks for the help Micro. It seems i'm ok playing divx files. I misinterperted what i was reading. My understandign was divx would also play xvid, guess not. Going to go ahead and download the xvid codec u recommended. Hopefully this will do the trick (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Good stuff gentleman, keep up the great work!
