???

How do you connect your monitor to your pc/video card?

The termination for the 360 VGA cable will act as your pc's video card. Connect the 360 VGA cable to your monitors cable.

I hate to sound idiotic now.. but my knowledge of VGA monitors evades me..

So here is my question.. If I use the VGA cable from the Xbox 360 to connect it to my PC's VGA monitor; will I then be able to play games in 720p Hi-Def?? Or will I need a HDTV for 720p?? (I've got a 17" CRT monitor, and I can go to 1280x1024 @60Hz)

Should work fine becuase current xbox titles that are capable of 720p work fine on a VGA monitor, but as far as I know, 720p is natively in a 16:9 aspect ratio, so it would be squashed on your 4:3 monitor...unless you have some way of having it display in a letter box format.

You'll need a simple Female to Female connector to get the 360 VGA cable to interface with a monitor that has it's VGA cable permanently attached. Most new LCDs, Projectors and HDTVs with VGA ports simply have a female port on the back panel of the display. (which is what MS is assuming most people will wan to use the cable with)

It's really only the cheaper CRT Monitors that have the cable permanently attached.

In those cases you'll need one of these:

Now I'm moving this to the 360 AV forum... If it wasn't for deftech pointing this thread out I wouldn't have seen it... it's really to your benefit to post things in the right place  rolleyes.gif

If by normal RCA you mean Composite and Not Component...

If you need an answer for that, we need to enroll you in A/V 101 ASAP

Yes....

Anything using composite video is the worst possible picture.

do you honestly even have to ask that question?

that's like asking which car performs better a yugo or a ferrari?

I've said it 100 times before

here is your video food chain:

Modulated RF < Composite < S-Video (SVHS Scart) < Component < RGB (RGB SCART) < VGA (DVI-A) < HDMI (DVI-D)

RCA is one from the bottom... VGA is one from the top  ;)

He would, however, need a FEMALE to FEMALE vga adapter.

Edit: Shoud've read the thread before posting.  :P
