1.3 Box, M8 Bios Modded With Evotool, X2.6 Chip
« on: October 08, 2004, 12:25:00 PM »

I modded a 1.3 box with an xecuter 2.6 lite, flashed banks 1/2 with x2_4983.06, installed avalaunch and flashx.

Using flashX, I then flashed banks 3/4 with m8 bios (NOT the 16 version) which I modded with evotool for LBA 48 support, changed the boot order to go to avalaunch.xbe first, and added IGR, the "most compatible" kind.

when I put the bios bank select switch on the x2.6 to bank 2 (m8), it boots just fine, ava loads, but I cannot launch any games or apps.  it just freezez.  When I use x2 bios it works fine.  booting to bank 1 (x2_4983.06) works perfectly.

I like the modded m8 and would like to use the bios, but it won't work for me.

any ideas?

It's probably the IGR option you added to the M8 bios. try making the same bios without IGR and flash that to the chip.  Most of the time if games are freezing it is becasue of IGR. Most common is that IGR is enabled in evox and in the bios and they conflict with each other. I'm not sure if Avalaunch has software IGR so if it does you could also try disabeling it.

Same problem with x2 chips.

Funny that I had this same problem with my x2.0 and it is STILL not fixed in x2.6

Do the x2 chips use the same tsop chip as the 1.0-1.5 motherboards?

This is odd.  I've used different bioses on my other x2 lite chips, and this is the first time I've had an issue.  I'll try putting an unmodded m8 bois on banks 3,4 and re-test.

Thanks for the input.

It doesnt need to be the same chip at all - there a good half dozen different chips used at the tsop.

Different bios's on the DIfferent banks = problems.
