160gb Hd Work?
« on: December 01, 2008, 04:16:00 PM »

Yes it will.

Most if not all of the BEVS drives will work. I use 2 160GB drives, and have successfully tested 3 or 4 250GB drives.

Did it show full 250GB of space in your xbox 360 hard drive? And which brand of 250gb hard drive you're using that works? Thanks.

of course it will NOT show 250GB on the console. the largest available security sector is for 120 GB, and there is no way to get more unless MS releases a larger drive.

so it doesn't SHOW it on screen.  But can you actually have like 250GB of stuff and be able to access it all on the xbox screen?

Millerboy3 is right. You only have access to what the original hddss.bin states is there. For all intents and purposes, if you use a 120GB bin on a 500GB WD, you now have a 120GB 360 compatible drive with about 346GB wasted space(give or take a little for the conversion).

All I would say is get whatever size is cheapest and compatible and use it. Sooner or later MS may end up with a larger drive, but until then, 120 is decent.

i haven't researched much about the 360 HD but if each game is almost 7gb and you want to put it on the HD then you're looking at 17 games at most on a 120GB HD. That's nothing.

I have a PS2 right now and it used to be that 120GB was the maxed.  But soon they came out with firmware updates to increase that to anything above 120GB.

Another cool thing is having access to multiple bins, like you can do with profiles.  just switch when you want.
What sucks is 120gb by todays standard is nothing and i don't see it lasting that long.

Should be. I think there may be more to the model number than whats listed above though. Just checked my 160GB undo, and its a "WDC WD1600BEVT-00ZCT0" I don't have one of the 250's to look at right now, but I think you should see something like - 00UST0 or something like that at the end.
