Sorry if this is a stupid question, but just to clarify, can you do the whole flashing process to 1.51 with FWTB instead of Jungleflasher?

I did exactly that. I used FWTB 4.8 to do a fresh mod of iX 1.51 on a 79fl and on a previously modded 79fl. I had to restore the previously modded 79 to orig firmware and redo the process before modding it to iX 1.51 but I used FWTB 4.8 for all of it. This of course applies to any process after putting the drive in mode B and unlocking it.

I read some people had issues and it may of been related to them using VIA chipset (which I use) so I just went ahead and used FWTB 4.8.

I don't know if there is an issues with jungle flasher or if it's user error. I just know I could do it easier with FWTB 4.8.

EDIT: I'd like to add that I basically used podgers Tutorial up to the flashing process. I used what crazygoldfish posted on this thread--> http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=678846

That thread proved very helpful to me for flashing with FWTB 4.8

VanydotK - You are the man!! I just did a 78 with firmware toolbox 4.8. was having trouble getting Jungleflasher to recognize my drive don't know why, probably user error. I just followed everything you said as far as restoring original.bin, pasting key into 1.5.1 correct sector - 4e10 (bank) of 78 firmware. Although i have not tested HAWX or mlb2k9, all was verified that flash took and i can still play backups no problem so if anyone has trouble with jungle flasher i suggest reading VanydotK method.
Thanks again!!

I just want to add that I IN NO WAY am trying to dis-credit Jungle Flasher, I APPRECIATE EVERYTHING that is thrown to the public from people who have no obligation, other than they want to help or advise people with half a brain such as myself. Once again THANKS! smile.gif

Restoring flashed 79FL to stock and then flashing to 1.51 went flawlessly with JungleFlasher.

Yes you can... First restore your drive with your orig.bin, copy the key then open up the iX 1.51 accordingly to the version of your drive and key location, paste your key and save it (technically you don't even have to do this since FWTB will ask if you want to keep the key on the drive), then flash it (patch, not restore) and it'll ask if you want to keep the key you currently have on the drive, hit yes unless you do want to replace the key already on the drive.

I flashed two 79's yesterday and they both worked fine.

I did the exact same thing with FW Toolbox, worked like a charm on a 79fl drive!

I had huge probs with JungleFlasher, XP freezing every 30 seconds or so, everything halting whenever I tried doing anything with the drive after it was in Mode B. Thank God for FWTB.

How do you get jungleflasher to accept a 1.51 fw? it only allows 1.4

You have to copy all the firmware files to the "firmware" folder. Then it should be all automatic.

you MUST restore first or you will end up with a bricked drive.

That's considered Piracy talk David so don't talk of downloading anything here on the Scence man. If you don't want the ban hammer slamming down on you, I'd suggest that you not mention downloading anything at all.
