This is why when the Xbox is scanned, the serial number of the machine is included in the UPC record. Or didn't you notice this????

When the package is returned to MS to repair and rejected, they (may) take action, be it the store or MS.

I've talked to one EBX manager who told me that it's a very easy to prove fraud case, since there is a complete paper trail. In EBX's case the serial number is automatically reprinted right on your receipt, so you know.

AFAIK Cosco, Wall-Mart, etc. just don't print it on the receipt.

Not a very smart thing to do.

Aha, thats why you pay by cash.

Then when you return it, and MS do find out - how are they gonna track you to  your real name and address?....

Xbox Live?

how?

                   I'm speculating here.

1) Xbox live reads the serial number of your machine
2) Xbox live requires a credit card to join, for billing.
3) Xbox live registers your Xbox into a database
(Hmmm I have 3 xboxes, I wonder if they will all work on one account?)

From here they can grab your info.

The smartest people they have (heh...) seem to be their attorneys.  Have you seen their contracts?

Trying to justify their jobs I guess.

All I can say is, you are going through the hassle of trying to exchange a XBox when there are people who are installing it for a relatively low charge.

If you can't solder just have someone else solder it for you!!  Why go through all this hassle.

QUOTE (Speedo @ Aug 8 2002, 09:31 AM)
In sweden we get 1 year "drulle" insurance. That means that if you drop your box and it breaks you get a new one.

I asked in the store "if i put in a modchip, does this insurance cover that?" The sales man said "No"... "But if I throw in under a big fucking truck, will this insurance cover it?" "yes" said the salesman..

So there´s your answer.. just throw it under a truck or off a high building and let it go into 1000 pieces and then return it , and you´ll get a new one.

The world is fucked up.. isnt it?

                   LOL, sure it is.
