Well I guess it’s time.. I have been working a bit on porting DSL 3.4.2 over to XDSL. Yesterday was my most successful test.. It booted!.. No changes have been made to the kernel as there are no updates on xbox-linux. It’s been a long year and 8 months since XDSL has had any major development.. I hope to have something for you guys to play with soon. Also friedgold’s XDSL

/lib/modules/2.4.26 (removed)
/boot/System.map-2.4.26 (removed)
/lib/modules/2.4.31-xbox (added)
/boot/System.map-2.4.31-xbox (added)
/boot/config-2.4.31-xbox (added)
/boot/System.map (updated to link to System.map-2.4.31-xbox)

I have not removed 2.4.26 or system.map-2.4.26 this allows me to boot the CD in both my XBOX and PC!

This will eat up more ram if you use frugel install. So I might include a dual release..

The install scripts have been moved over..

joyd and xte have not yet been moved over.

Raincoat has not been moved over

xbox-tools has been moved

XVKbd has not been moved

And
None of the following have been modified properly yet!

PER http://www.x-dsl.org/wiki/Differences_between_XDSL_and_DSL
Fluxbox
/skel/.fluxbox/init
Made toolbar always on top to prevent it being obscured.
/skel/.fluxbox/menu
Updated to reflects the applications added to X-DSL.
.xinitrc
/etc/skel/.xinitrc has been altered to start the Virtual Keyboard on when entering X instead of the DSL help file.
.xserverrc
This file is not present initially when booting Damn Small Linux. It contains the X Server settings and is created by xsetup.sh. X-DSL includes a .xserverrc suitable for the Xbox.
Fonts
A number of configuration files were changed to give larger fonts and reduce the windows size to fit a 640x480 desktop:
·   /etc/skel/.dillo/dillorc
·   /etc/skel/.emelfm/settings
·   /etc/skel/.sylpheed/sylpheedrc
·   /etc/skel/.xtdesktop/Xpaint.lnk
·   /etc/skel/.xmms/config
XMMS
in /etc/skel/.xmms/config the cd path was changed from /cdrom/ to /mnt/auto/cdrom/ and digital audio extraction enabled (required to play audio CDs on the Xbox).
None have been changed on the new DSL yet!

wow,
That's great news KeoKeo. Good for you. biggrin.gif .
Count me in for some testing.
Just wondering if you ever had any luck with alsa. Would be great if alsa could be used as the default sound driver from boot.
Cheers.
Steve.

This is great news now only if I had my testbox

Apparently xboxes don't like being violently ejected from a car at 70Kph.

Still it is good to see that linux on the xbox is moving along (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

I'm not "nix savvy" as you said in the thread.  tongue.gif
But I have used XDSL for a Looooong time, and would be more than happy to give your new port a run!

Haha, I figured Halo 3 was the main reason that xbox linux had gone so quiet. But glad to hear your still releasing your xdsl version. Looking forward to it.

I gotta usb mouse and keyboard, one with an adapter I bought on ebay, and one with a homemade adapter.  tongue.gif

And I am looking forward to this as well.

Also, I have logged a few hours in Halo3 myself...only four achievements left to get (shitty ass ffa achievements!)
