I have the xbox with SmartXX v2 connected to the Realtek (Local area connection 2) via a cross cable. I also enabled internet connection sharing and so forth but I still can't connect

I set it to ethernet on,dhcp, set the subnet mask, then set the ip address to :
169.254.199.113 then 169.254.199.115. Neither worked. What can I do? I hate the fact that it certainly looks like my solders were done properly and its good to go except this is keeping me from getting it configured  Can anyone suggest specifically what I can do?

that's not a valid network IP.. set the PC IP for that card to 192.168.0.1 and the xbox IP to 192.168.0.2.
