K here is the deal with my xbox..
First of all I have a Xbox Version 1.0. I have the softmod for MA on it right now (audio hack) I also have an upgraded 80 gig hard drive.
Is it true that I need a 1 mb BIOS for it to work or do 256k Bios' work as well using version 1.0 of Xbox?
I bought the X-B.I.T chip (sodderless) and I got it in the mail today. I opened up my xbox and I installed the chip.
Heres the deal. The Pogo Pin circles on the motherboard have been soldered so what I did was took a thumb tack and poked holes into the soddered parts so the pogo pins on the adapter can come in proper contact so the chip actually works.
I've been able to successfully place the sodderless adapter over the D0, so there is no problem there.
The LED (Green) Light is lit up on the actual XBIT chip when I plug the USB cable in which means it IS connected properly and recognizing the chip. (Right?)
I can successfully connect, format and then write a new bios to my mod chip with no problems using the Xbit tool v 1.0.
As for the DIP settings, do I use Pannel 5 (on the xbit tool), Bios 2 (256k Bios) so the dip settings would be
1 = ON
2 = OFF
3 = OFF
4 = OFF
If not, what should the DIP settings be? And which pannel (on the xbit tool) should I use?
Now the time comes when I hook up my hard drive and I turn on the xbox. Basically what it does is the xbox pauses (shuts on and off automatically 2 times) then the 3rd time it runs BUT all I get is a black screen with no MS Dash and the Open Disc tray light flashes GREEN AND RED.
If I put the DIP settings to:
1 = Off
2 = Off
3 = Off
4 = ON
It's supose to boot to the MS Dashboard BUT it gives me an error saying Xbox needs servicing in green text in a bunch of languages.
What am I doing wrong?
Please help,
Thanks,
Chris
