The Final Tutorial For St.db Audio Exploit
« Reply #75 on: July 22, 2003, 12:34:00 PM »

i found a way to play the music that is on your hard drive and you can also copy music using this audio exploit. you have to hexedit the msdashboard.xbe make sure you dont edit the xboxdash.xbe!!! or you will get error 21 when booting xbox, make a copy of it and rename it to msdashboard.xbe and then edit it. look for st.db in the msdashboard.xbe and then edit the file name to st.bb. there should be two st.db entries in the .xbe, edit them both, then save. goto your e drive and goto your ORIGINAL st.db file and rename it to st.bb. done.
now edit your evox.ini in the c drive to launch a msdash hacked xbe. example below in Section "Dashboards" close to bottom.... then when you want to listen to or copy your music just load the hacked msdashboard and your on your way. but the down side of this is you still cant play your copied music in games that support it like burnout 2. but you can always hex edit that game so that it looks for st.bb instead of st.db, but i havent tested that yet.

my evox.ini file below...

I keep reading that to get dashboard 4920 you need to put in an Xbox live enabled game like Splinter Cell, which will update your Xbox Dashboard.

Do you have to be connected to the Xbox Live Service or Internet for this to occur... or does the update get entirely installed from the game cd?

Hehe, i was checking the the topic. And i saw there is a lot of progress in it.

Only 1 question rests for me, can u use the F drive smile.gif
I now use a different xboxdash.xbe with my own menu's in it.
I know it doesn't boot that. But it should be possible, if i sign it right

The Final Tutorial For St.db Audio Exploit

Just a few dumb questions if you don't mind...   uhh.gif

I installed the Audio_Exploit_PLUS_Complete Signed Phoenix_Bios_Loader and it appears to work since when I put in an audio cd and do the exploit I get to the Evox menu...

Do I need to do anything else from here or am I done as far as hacking goes?  All I really want to do it play backup games, so in effect, is using an audio cd basically like using a "boot disc" to get to evox and then putting in a backup cd and hitting launch?

Or do I need to flash anything or install anything else?  I haven't touched the flash bios or install evox options from the menu at all...  Not sure if I need to..  I'd be happy using a boot disc if that's all I need to play backups...

One more thing, if I'm making my own iso, do I need to sign the default.xbe with -habibi still or can it play it with a straight iso?

For the record, I have a 1.3 xbox with the latest kernal and dash...

Thanks for the help!

Does the audio exploit + phoenix zip file contain instructions on what to do? It's somewhat hard to follow this thread, since new findings were made throughout the whole thread, and not made at the beginning.

If there isn't a set of instructions in the file (I can't get the file right now, unforunately), would someone mind just doing a quick lowdown of what I need to do once I get this zip file? I'm using the MA exploit to get ftp access at the beginning.

Oneeyedelf:  So in theory since this hack can run unsigned code, I should just be able to take an iso that I have and burn it straight onto a dvd+rw (say with Nero) without doing anything to it?  Just so I'm clear here...  Thanks for the help...

DeadJB:  I used the Audio exploit with Complete signed Pheonix Loader file that I got off of Xbins...  It was pretty simple to set up...  Inside the zip there are 3 folders...  c-stuff, e-stuff, and a pheonix folder...  I believe the pheonix folder is just for source files and is not needed for us...  All you do is put the files from the c-stuff folder onto your xbox c drive, and likewise for the e-stuff onto the xbox e drive...  The ST.DB file in the zip already has the correct hexed info on it so just extract these files and you're good to go...  Put an audio cd in and boot up the xbox, perform the exploit, and you should get the Pheonix screen and then evox...  I would recommend backing up your xbox c&e drives first though just in case...

You shouldn't...  The Audio exploit with Pheonix is already signed...  Just put the files in the right places and you should be good...

GAH!!!, if you are downloading the pheonix loader then use that as linux.xbe, and it will boot evoxdash.xbe on your C:, this is the whole point of the pheonix loader, it will jam a bios into your xbox so no signing is needed of anything, it will also take out the old media checks, not sure about the new ones, since I havent bought a game in a long long time, if you are just using it to launch say xbmp, just sign xbmp as linux.xbe.... you dont need the pheonix loader then.

Ok... so... it should work, right?  I FTP'd everything from c-stuff folder to the C: drive.  I FTP'd everything from the e-stuff folder to the E: drive.  I shut down my XBOX and restarted it with an audio CD.  The CD started playing and I pressed B, Down, A, Right, Right, A, A, A.  All I got to was a menu asking to rename the Soundtrack.  Where'd I go wrong?  I didn't do anything more or less than what I just said... so if I missed a really obvious step please tell me I'm retarded and then explain what I need to do.  Thanks!

-Druminese

Edit -- Nevermind, I was reading around more... and I just tried hitting the A button a lot instead of just three times... worked! Sweet... thanks

i've been reading posts and faq for the last few days, and just read this thread twice but still have a couple questions-

1. i've got Audio_Signed_Phoenix_Bios_Loader.  the readme says to just copy the c stuff to c and the e stuff to e.  does this process replace the steps in the first post of this thread?

2. to clarify, if i follow that readme, do i need to do steps 2,3, and 4 from the first post in this thread?

3. once this is working, if i start the xbox normally, can i still use xbox live w/o getting booted?  i'm confused because i've read that if you have modified or additional files on the C: drive, you can get booted, but posts here imply that you can use Live with the audio exploit.

any help is appreciated, i'm a noob at this and don't want to fook things up.

9volt:  The Audio Signed complete Phoenix Loader basically already incorporates the steps you need..  It contains the hex edited st.db file already...  Just extract the c-stuff and e-stuff and boot the audio cd and you're good to go...  I've been using it for a week and it's been working great so far...  I just use an audio cd like a bootdisc when I want to play backups...    I don't know what to tell you about live though...  I wound up just buying another xbox to use for the hacks, and my original I'm going to keep with live...  I figure it's not worth taking the chance...

QUOTE (fuckdb @ Jul 28 2003, 11:28 AM)
Spelly88, correct me if im wrong....

You said that Completesignedaudioexploitwithphoenix.zip comes with modded st.db to start the exploit playing audio ? without making a copy of it ?

To clarify:  A few pages back in this tutorial, Adso58 told of a method to hex edit the st.db file to allow this exploit to work...  What I meant was that the CompeteSignedAudioPheonix loader already incorporates this edited st.db so all you need to do is just extract it to the right location...  I believe it's part of the e-stuff folder in the zipfile, so just put it in the right place and you should be good to go...
