No, you dont want to mix MS Dash versions.
If you dont have a full backup of the retail drive (at least the C: partition) to restore, your best bet is to get a copy of Slayers and just run menu option 4a10 to rebuild the dash.
It wont do anything else to the box unless you specficially command it to.
