edit:
never mind
but i guess this isn't useful if the dash isn't booting...so if you get an error code, this is useless

yes, there's a code that you can get from MS. it's not really used for much. if you happen to set parental settings in the dash with a password and forget your password, there is a master code that will let you unlock it so you can enter a new password.

ive ehard of a code that you can enter at the dashbaord and it clears cache and gamesaves, kidna liek that boot disc they give out to rental places

never heard of anythign you can do at an error screen (doesnt seem likely there is anything you can do at the error screen since its just a bitmap thrown onscreen by the bios when it crashes)

Llamma had a little blurb on his page about this, he has quite a collection of refresh codes and apparently, they're box specific.

were you asked for your serial number when you called about this, Manhunt?

Llamma's codes

There you go, it says that he tried all of them on one of his lab-rat boxes, to no avail.
And this code does the exact same as a refresh disk, without the disk.

Somone needs to find a way to get ALL of the codes with all of the known Xboxes. It is amazing that it reformats your Xbox without a disc or anything. Anyone who has time see if you can get your Xbox code and post it here.  beerchug.gif  This Would Be GREAT A whole LIST

OK, So I called M$ and presented a scenero like "I rent a lot of games and therefore have a lot of game saves, So when I return those games those game saves are no longer valid for me, how do I erase them"

So the rep procedes to tell me how to remove them one by one, so I said what if I get lazy and keep forgetting to delete games, so now I have a lot of them, is there a way to delete them all at once, He said sure,  asked me for my serial number and after giving him that he said, NOW THIS IS SPECIFIC TO YOUR XBOX ONLY but...

1. Make sure any disc is out of XBOX
2. Goto main menu (Not the live! menu) and goto Settings
3. When in settings goto System Info
4. When in system Info press    Y - UP - Y - A - A

NOTE:  for the UP Direction you must use the "Thumbstick"

After doing that I get the "Are you sure?" prompt.  He never asked me for a Kernel version or anything else.  Just the Serial Number from under my XBOX.  However I'd be interested to know if this works with anyone else that has

Kernal # 5838

If you have this Kernal please try this and see if it works on your XBOX

Just got off the phone with M$ seems as if the code does the exact same thing as the Hardware Refresh Disc (to lern more Click Here) he told me that he has only heard of the two codes and is almost sure that is it, the Reformat HDD Code (thats what I call it, it deletes saves, soundtracks, cache, pretty much restores xbox to factory settings) and the Master Code for Parental Control.
