Xenium Ice Not Solderless
« on: September 02, 2004, 11:21:00 PM »

I just got my Xenium Ice in the mail. I am finished gutting my xbox. I have the mobo out.I had planned on doing the quick solder for the past two weeks.
Untill I saw the size of the chip. They look bigger on the tuts and sites. I am not that confident in my soldering skills. I am now thinking on doing the header pin install.
Only problem is I have a 1.0 xbox. solder is filling all the holes on LPC.
Should I use a desoldering braid?
Do they work well?
Or should I use a solder sucker(desoldering bulb)?
I am using the bottom DO.
I can't even see the top one.
Why are the two wires on the chip.?
Is one to Do and the other ground?

I cant figure out the USB or LED's, but I will worry about that later.

specs.

Go with the quick solder, it will be much easier, but then again, I hate doing pinheaders, so I always go the alt route.

My advice would be to desolder with the braid and if you're abit gunshy with the soldering to practice on something disposable before hand to get some more confidence just take your time and dont apply to much heat at one time as thats where alot of people make mistakes and just keep on trying what they were doing instead of finding out how to solve the problem.
