mm thats quite odd, i thoguht riteks worked with most drives, especially the sammy. Just try another brand, it might work.

Well, I've tried multiple modchips in this xbox that is giving me problems and I can't get it to boot using my modchip bios.  It's like the modchip isn't even there anymore.  Using a different harddrive makes it FRAG, and any CD/DVD-R that I put in it says "doesn't recognize disk".  This is disturbing... is it possible that something at a low-level got updated on this xbox?  I checked the settings from the MS dashboard and the IDs say:

K 1.00.5101.01
D 1.00.4920.01

I'm pretty sure I have a 1.4, but it may be 1.3, the date is 2003-06-09.

I guess my problem isn't that the xbox won't read burned media...that is just a symptom.   The modchip is not being recognized at this point.  Has anyone experienced this before?
