Your Advise Newhdd Or Dvdburner?

It's better to have a new HDD to backup there, or to get a DVD burner and have copies on cds of my games?

I have found that the prices are about the same depending on the brand and specifications of the hardware.

What would be your advice??

Thanks

How long does it take to burn a dvd? Just curious, because it seems like it
would take a really long time to burn 2 or 3 gig with a 2x or 4x burner.
Any info would be appreciated!
TIA!

you only want to burn at 1x anyhow, it takes about 45-60 min to burn a full dvd. I have a 20gb had in my xbox and it's all i need cause i have pioneer burner. it gives me room to play around with files and stuff. Then i burn.

Hey Thanks for posting!!

If I get the idea right, then its not really necessary to have a huge HDD,  the Xbox v1  has a what 8 -10gb HD?  So that will be enough then for handle about two games on  the HD right?

Has anyone had experience with the Box reading CDRW's?

ThanX!!

I've search the forums and all I found was on the brands or characteristics - prices of HDD or DVD burners, not  on what's best to have first.

Thanx Anyway!

peace!

There was a poll somewhere a couple of weeks ago that indicated most people prefer WD then Seagate then Maxtor and a few Samsung.  I have seen several negative comments on the IBM.  Actually, I purchased a Samsung 120G and so far am very pleased.  It is quite, runs cooler than most, and was cheap.

No question, Hard Drive!!! I have a couple DVD-Burners and I can tell you they are VERY unreliable, media mostly.. plus, load times from a HD compared to DVD... I made about 90 DVDs I burned, then 4 months later about 40% dont work any longer, just sitting, and they did work before.. so now I just keep all 300Gigs worth on my HD in my PC and FTP over anything I want to the 120Gig in the XBox.

I work for an online computer store, so I know a fair bit about component quality.

I too have had good experiences with Maxtor, Seagate and Western Digital drives.
My PC has 2 Maxtor D740X drives in it, never had a problem.

Samsung make fantastic products.  I don't think they have made a shoddy product.  Their Own branded memory, is some of the best overclockable memory there is.

I got a Samsung 120gb HDD in my xbox, it was cheap, its quiet and cool.   3 Years warrenty too, with modern hardware, thats quite a warrenty.

Get a samsung hard drive, Its lockable too.

Wow!!
40% of DVD's that doesnt work anymore!!, It's amazing how usefull all these information is...

I've been searching for info on these:   These are the ones that SOME  people seem to have problems with; (in cases some others don't have a prob at all) smile.gif

Some guys just Can't lock these ones:

[[The Hard Drive is a:
Western Digital WD1200 120gig 8mb cache Special Edition.
120 gig 8meg special edition.
WD1200JB "WDC WD1200JB-75CRA0"]]    [[[[My Western Digital WD1200 120gig 8mb cashe Special Edition can not lock either. ]]]]

[[Maxtor 120GB 5400 RPM HDD, it is model 4G120J6. ]]

[[ have exatly the same prob. using my Maxtor 120GB D540]]

[[Same problem with Western Digital 80gig 7200rpm]]

[[I've got an 80gig Maxtor DiamondMax 5400 RPM drive in my Xbox that I cannot lock. ]]

[[Just want to let everyone know that the Maxtor 160 Model 4G160J8 is NOT LOCKABLE. ]]

Are these just isolated cases or they are patterns which we can follow?

Thanks in Advance!!
