yeah, it will probably not play any cdr's it will be very selective with cdrw's however most people can use memorex cdrw's not guaranteeing anything though.  and all dvd-r's i have tried work with my xbox.

The chip does not affect whether the Xbox is able to read particular media or not, so implying that installing their chip will mean you can read all media is clearly not true!
