no it won't just hook up the new drive in cable select mode, download an auto installer and setup the drive thataway or just go spend 5 bucks on a splitter

yeah i don't know what that other guy was talking about, what you did is perfectly fine.  Most people use the cable spitter because they have too much stuff on their xbox hdd to back up on their computer hdd.
