Thanks for sharing your guide, but IMO i'd rather use the LCP board for the 1.6 /B and the pin header. Looks more professional looking and less wire running around and less chance for the wires to break off.

All i gota say is that's the most impressive first post i've ever seen.  I think my first post was something like ''AHHHHH HELP MY XBOX IS STUPID....." ok well maybe it wasn't THAT bad, but i'm sure it wasn't a one of a kind tutorial like yours  beerchug.gif

you know why ur xenium os looks dull...
(the wire u use to rebuild the lpc is to long)
it was said that when rebuilding lpc, you must use short wire as possible not long...

About 2 weeks ago, I used a method I named "Halfass Soldered Installation"

this is for V1.0-v1.4.

I use the d0 wire loom and soldered that in, but used the solderless adapter to mount the chip in.

It works perfectly!

I tested it by shaking it a whole lot biggrin.gif

EDIT: expect a guide soon biggrin.gif

I was under the impression that you had to use the shortest wire possible because you want to minimize resistance. My Xenium OS looks dull BUT when I play games etc...Everything is fine! So maybe it's just the OS is supposed to be like that? Oh well. Plus the higher guage the wire, the thinner it is which = more resistance. I'm guessing that my wires are about 22 guage compared to the thinner 30 guage wire.

The reason I did the install this way was because once the Xenium was unplugged and removed, it would be as if the LPC ports were not "jumped" at all(without desoldering the wires). Maybe a good thing for XBOX LIVE on a 1.6??? I dont know, just an extra precaution but I haven't tried to go on LIVE yet. If I did try, I would have to switch my stock HDD back in.

Hey NW_US3R, you didn't count all the solderpoints in your method(Solderless adapter plus soldered LPC jump points:

You gotta count both ends of wire that you soldered to the MOBO.
Thats 10 points + 1(DO) = 11 solderpoints.

EDIT: OH I forgot its ACTUALLY MORE than 11 solderpoints because you have to solder the other pins in the pinheader as well! So that's a total of 16+1(DO) = 17 solderpoints on the xbox MOBO using the CONVENTIONAL WAY!

MY WAY only uses 5+1(DO) = 6 solderpoints on the MOBO tongue.gif

Clean look = more solderpoints and more chance of frying the board.
My Way = Less solderpoints and less chance of frying the board.

With a pinheader install, and an unplugged xenium it'd be like nothing was there as well.

BTW, currently there is zero evidence that they are scanning the LPC or anything for XBL

It looks realy messy, I prefer to soldier all the cables as discribed in the xenium manual. Nice and clean that is how I want it.

* got question for you did u solder the pinheader or u just let it seated on the lpc holes...?

I used a solderless adapter instead of the pinheader. I only used a 2x3 pinheader (minus one pin) on the Xenium chip to jump the LPC.
