Xapt3r Doesn't Fit, I'm Not A Retard Or N00b

The Xapt3r hits a chip mounted to the motherboard on my 1.1.  It therefore won't sit flush and I can't screw the top screw down.  I realize this is a popular product and many people have installed it; I swear I've lined it up so many times so that all the pins go right in, but then the edge of the adapter hits the edge of the chip on the motherboard.
I've seen the picture tutorial and it clearly shows it just narrowly missing it and just fitting perfectly.  I can't imagine how that could possibly be.  I can't be the only one to have run into this.  Any ideas?
