name your xbox dash xboxdash.xbe. This is a common problem with the normal dash not booting up when chip is off. So once you know that your original dash is xboxdash.xbe then it should work. If it doesn't then i'm out of ideas. O, and make sure you evo-x dash is evoxdash.xbe. Hope this helps

Oh my God.  I've been working on this for almost 10 hours straight.

UPDATE

I desoldered the chip.  And tried to clean off all the solder.  Guess what it frags without the modchip.  Or is this normal for wire installed xbox?

So that means I have done something wrong.  I looked everywhere for solder splash with my magnifying glass.  Nothing I can see.  What should I do???

What solutions are available???

I thought about flashing the other bank with MS bios and hopefully live will work or else it won't.

Or is there a repair service to fix this.  How can I catch solder to get off the board???  Is there a such thing???>

PLEASE HELP or PUT YOUR 2 CENTS

Well first off, if it FRAGs when the chip was disabled, it will FRAG with the chip out of the box, you broke a trace somewhere while you were soldering (most likely your D0 point). If you were able to get the box to boot from the chip then you should reinstall it to get it to work right. You were right the first time, it isnt your soldering of the LPC points that is causing it, it is most likely your D0
When an Xbox boots up normally, it doesnt ever check the LPC points. the way the modchip works is, it GROUNDS out the D0 point, which then FORCES the xbox to bypass its orginal bios (TSOP) and boot from the LPC points (modchip)

SO let say you broke the trace AFTER the D0 grounding process, then that means your box will not start up normally without the chip. BUT since you have the chip in and disabled, the xbox will boot off the chip because D0 is already grounded (when chip is enabled, the D0 is grounded).

So what to do now? first Fix your broken trace, find it and fix it, if you dont know how, then i suggest you send it to a professional. or if you dont care about Xbox live and want to always boot from your chip, reinstall your chip and get it work. once it does READ THE FORUMS AND TUTORIALS on how to set up EVOX.

there are PLENTY of tutorials for you in the tutorials section so go READ THEM, especially the n00b guides.

good luck

Thanks for you help Jive.  I have 1 question for you.  Let say you have d0 plugged in with solder.  Will the normal bios work when the d0 is filled?

Is there way to just use live with MS bios on the modchip itself?

I have only 1 bank flashed.

use a meter and test for continuity between d0 and the tsop

in case you dont know the tsop chip is right next to the LPC holes

if you were looking from the front of the xbox the pin you would test d0 to is

(top row of pins in this illustration are closest to the back of the xbox.)

    TSOP

if theres continuity between d0 and that pin on the tsop then your d0 trace is ok.

I want to make this clear as day for my 'up-too-late' mind....

Is this the proper orientation?
