First I installed the chip using my pin header that was there since I had my WORKING 2.2 pro in there. and it smoked then and also I used the wire connection directly soldered and it smoked then as well. The two lined up diods was where it happened. the smoke came from the solder melting.    The lights on the chip and the switch remain on. huh.gif

The xbox is ok but one of the the diods fell off the X2.3 lite chip, I suppose I could resolder the diod back on but Why did it happen in the 1st place?

sometimes a dry solder joint can generate a lot of heat, or one of the diodes could have been in the wrong way round! I'd return it just in case it does any further damage!

the xbox booted normally the first time with the mod enabled. both blue lights were on in the Xecuter 2.3 lite chip. after about 40 seconds the solder around the diods began to melt and smoke, It was then I turned off the Xbox and began to worry.

Please help, I just wanna play some games.

Thanks

Dude, play it safe.  Take the chip out and check all your connections.  Get someone else to check your connections.

Check the diodes on the X2.  Chances are there's a serious problem on there now.  I wouldn't plug it back into MY XBox.  Get a replacement.

Thank your lucky stars that the XBox still works.

It seems the new easier USB power is giveing people problems...    Its to easy to put it on backwards I guess...  My 2.3pro will be here shortly... I'm one to tripple chick everything...  Id go as far as to put a volt meter on to make sure it's correct...  And solder your ground to a good ground (not the screw but a grounded solder point on the board..)  A good place to look for a good ground is around a Mosefet....  Use a meter to find one...  I'll put some pics up of a good ground in a few weeks...

These X2.3 do not fail that easily.  I doubt you have 2 faulty ones.  Check your install method before you fry another one.

maybe your 2.3 lite is damaged on shipment sad.gif
by the way...
why do you want to change your 2.2pro with a 2.3lite ???
