QUOTE (predator @ Nov 16 2002, 09:50 PM)
My xbox started blinking only at green and red lights after i anstalled my x-encuter chip the screen is black and i cant play any games please help someone?

                                    Complete X-ecuter Install instructions.

There are 13-14 soldering points for an x-ecuter chip, despite popular belief. Go to game gizmo's site n u'll see pics, so u can follow along.

Horseshoe:
semi-circle part of the chip.that lines up with the screw on the xbox mother board.

Continuity:
That's when the to tester ends beep when put together.

Tips:
Get the thinest soldering wire u can, it will be well worth it. Make sure your soldering iron tip can pass through the nine holes. The wire has to be thin enough, when stripped, to pass through the motheboard. Check this by holding the board to the light and finding a hole that light passes through and carefully sticking the wire in the hole, it should come out on the other side. Do Not stick the wire in the hole that u need to solder it into, because that doesn't pass through. If it passes throught easily, then the wire is thin enough, if not go take a trip to Radioshack.

First, presolder on a wire, it has to be a very very very thin wire. Here is where u get to choose weather u have one more points or not. U can install a switchg which let's u turn on and off the chip.

--------------------------------------------------

Eliminating the switch:

There are two points, when u hold the chip with the horseshoe facing up that are above the nine holes, that's your switch. If u solder the points together, no switch. Solder the point to one end of the wire.

Putting a switch(Recommended):

There are two points, when u hold the chip with the horseshoe facing up that are above the nine holes, that's your switch. Simply attach the wire to the right side of the two points with a little bit of solder, this will go straight into the board. On this same point u attach a wire that will go to one side of the switch. The other point get's a different wire, that will go to the other side of the switch.

Test: Get a tester, set it to continuity. Put the two wire ends that will eventually go to the switch together. Now touch the two solder points, if it beeps that's good. Next release the two wires, so the switch is open. touch the two soldering points, if it doesn't beep then u did it. If it does beep, resolder.

---------------------------------------------

Next, the ever so popular, nine holes & horse shoe.

These are connected by placing solder on each off these points on the Xmotherboard itself. That creates a little raise in of solder in each of the holes. Then u place a little solder under the Horse shoe.

Now lay the chip on the board. To heat up the solder under the horseshoe.
Now stick the tip of the soldering iron into each of the holes, straight down, enough to melt the solder, and pull straight up. If u need to add more solder.

Last, Add a little solder to the last wire and stick it into the last hole.

============================
Testing:

Grab your tester, set it to continuity. Hold the mother board so u can get access to both sides of the board( The top: side with the chip, the bottom: side without the chip)

Beep: Good
No Beep: Bad

Checking the nine points: Put a tester on each side of the boards points, on of the top of the board, and one on the bottom of the board. Test one point at a time, you'll want to test the top of the chip and the bottom of the board. Be sure you're checking the right points. You'll hear a beep for each correct soldered point.

Next, check the wire, put one tester on the point where the wire meets the chip. and on the back of the board there is a little rectangular , diode, transister, I dunno what it's called. It's basically a little rectangle with metalic tape on the ends. The wire connects through the little hole to this thing. If u put the other end of the tester to the metalic tape, it should beep.

Last check the horseshoe, lay the board right side up again. touch the chip part of the horseshoe and put the other tester end on the furthest point of the the screw hole's metalic sorrounding.

Connect a switch to the end of the two wires that are left and you're done.
