Spider Chip 1.1 Solderless And Xbox Issues
« on: February 18, 2006, 01:48:00 PM »

Hi, i just got a spiderchip for a buddy of mine and oped up his xbox today only to find the holes used to put the wires from the solderless chip are filled in.. doesnt even seem like its solder, but some glue or not even a full punch though..

any ideas on what to do with this xbox board? is it un-modable ? I belive its a 1.6 or 1.6b, i have year to hear any solid evidence about a 1.7 ..

thoughts?

get a brand new exacto-blade and lightly scratch the stuff off the top of the board... I recommend you solder the damn thing, though, otherwise it'll probably frag after a while anyways...

That or use a very very fine needle to carefully push into the vias (holes).

Make sure you don't apply too much pressure to the Spider wires when trying to press them in, otherwise you might bend the tips which are a PAIN to get back into the proper shape.

Also if the ends of the wires get rough, you'll have a harder time sliding them into the vias.

I, too, have this problem. The vias are not punched out, so there is only motherboard in place, and there is no way to get the wires through.
